Comfortable Big Cottage, near Blaenau Ffestiniog (FL013WA)

The Property is a unique Victorian building adjoining what was originally the local Methodist chapel. This large holiday house has been restored to provide generous group/family accommodation, with a relaxed feel, in the Snowdonia National Park. The property has lots of original features including stripped pine doors, slate floors, wooden floorboards and pretty fireplaces. Llan Ffestiniog is a great place from which to explore the area with the attractions of Blaenau Ffestioniog; such as the famous Zip World zip wires and Bounce below underground trampolines; the Ffestioniog Railway and Antur Stiniog mountain biking centre, only 3 miles away. The beaches at Porthmadog are 10 miles away and Betws-y-Coed 14 miles.

The lounge has a log-effect stove in the fireplace, leather sofas and a large TV with Sky HD package including movies/ DVD player/ CD player and superfast WiFi. The dining room seats eight around a table, with the original chapel pew seating, and the large kitchen is equipped with a gas range and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine/dryer, slate flooring (please note AGA in photos is not operational). On the first floor are two bedrooms - a kingsize bedroom and a twin, both with feature fireplaces (not functioning) and a large bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC. On the top floor is a family suite with a kingsize bed and two single day beds. This open plan room also has a leather sofa and TV with Xbox (bring your own games). This second floor also has a bathroom with bath, basin and WC. The Property enjoys lovely open views to the front and is set well back from the road. The large lawned front garden has a pond (children to be supervised at all times) and a small front terrace with a bench table. There is plenty of parking available.

This area has a rich industrial heritage from the slate quarries with fantastic walking locally in the Moelwyn Mountains. There are rivers to swim in and interesting quarry workings and buildings to explore. The Italianate village of Portmeirion is close by and the stunning beaches at Borth-y-Gest and Black Rock sands near Porthmadog. The pretty village of Betws-y-Coed gives access to the popular mountains and lakes of the national park.

LocationNorth Wales

North Wales showcases some of the UK's most varied landscape, from the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia to the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. Indeed, it is one of the only parts of Britain where you can be in the mountains in the morning and at the seaside by the afternoon. The diverse animal life of the region reflects this, with everything from otters to ospreys and seals to dolphins.

Not many places are imbued with such history and heritage, which is reflected throughout the region from cottages to castles! Attractions abound, with zoos and farms, steam railways and activity centres. There are regular events from international cultural festivals and shows to family fun days.

The area also offers a huge range of outdoor activities; walking, cycling, fishing, golf and water-sports to name only a few. In many parts of North Wales the spoken language is Welsh, not English, although people who cannot or will not speak the latter are rare, and signposts and other notices always display their message in both languages.
