Relax and enjoy a restful break at a wonderful country retreat. This Grade II listed 15th century Manor House boasts a wealth of character features including fine oak panelling and an inglenook fireplace and is set in well kept grounds. Get a group together and cycle the Taff Trail from Alexanderstone, or host a family gathering or reunion - the property sleeps 12. This unique house also offers full catering and waitressing services making it the perfect place for a party. Brecon is just 3 miles away and the small hamlet of Groesfford has a pub within easy walking distance. For lovers of the outdoors, Alexanderstone is set within a designated protected wildlife area making this property a wildlife enthusiast's dream.

This cottage can also be used in conjunction with Alexanderstone East Wing , Alexanderstone Coach House and Alexanderstone Cottage (approximately 150 yards distance) thus sleeping 31 people - so with the four properties this is a wonderful relaxed location, close to Brecon for a family re-union or a meeting up with friends.

The Property may be 15th century but it is a really well appointed home. The ground floor houses the kitchen with an electric range cooker, microwave, fridge, storage and work surfaces and a dishwasher. The oak panelled reception room houses a large woodburning stove within an inglenook fireplace and has sofas, chairs, TV and video.

The dining room has a long refectory table, chairs and a large Aga for heating and cooking if required.

The drawing room features the beautiful oak panelling once again and contains a sofa and chairs, TV, DVD, video and a piano.

There is also a Downstairs Cloakroom with handbasin, toilet, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The cellar has a freezer.

A fine flight of ancient oak stairs leads up to the four bedrooms and three bathrooms on the first floor:

Bedroom 1: The Master bedroom has a large double bed, and en-suite with shower, handbasin, bidet and toilet.

Bedroom 2: A bedroom with two single beds

Bedroom 3: A bedroom with two single beds

Bedroom 4: A bedroom with two single beds and an en-suite bathroom with wash handbasin and toilet.

There is also a very large separate bathroom: With a bath, shower, handbasin and toilet.

Bedroom 5: An attic room with 4 single beds with a further bathroom with a bath and shower over, toilet and handbasin.

Why not play Lord of the Manor and host a dinner party during your stay, or invite guests to a cocktail party held in one of the spacious reception rooms. The Property has a homemade and Cordon Bleu ready cooked dinner service and a full waitress service can also be arranged. This facility makes the Manor the obvious choice for a family get-together or a special occasion. The Property's East Wing can also be booked through Scotts Castle Holidays and can sleep a further 8 guests if required.

Character and original features at every turn - With an Aga at the heart of the home and incredible dark oak panelling in a number of the reception rooms, The Property combines 15th century Manor House grandeur with all the home comforts you could wish for. The main reception room features a wonderful stone inglenook fireplace with a substantial oak beam as its lintel, a woodburning stove now occupies the fireplace and makes a cosy area in which to curl up with a book or to sit after diner.

All within a Site of Special Scientific Interest - The Property sits within a SSSI so there is a wealth of rare wildlife and fauna to be found nearby. In season orchids abound along the grass verges of the lanes; a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts of all ages.

Numerous outdoor activities and places to visit - Located just 3 miles from Brecon, The Property is excellently placed to offer a huge number of outdoor activities all based locally. Walk straight from the house onto the glorious Brecon Beacons. There is also fantastic cycling as the property is on the Taff Trail providing 55 miles of largely traffic-free roads, paths and canal towpaths. Pony trekking, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and more advanced riding can all be arranged locally. For those looking for a quieter stay there are numerous shops in Brecon as well as a cinema and some great pubs and restaurants. Even closer to home, the small hamlet of Groesfford has a small pub just 1.5 miles away.

LocationMid Wales

This is the go to place for outdoor enthusiasts to make the most of the fantastic walking, riding & cycling opportunities, especially in the Cambrian Mountains National Park. The Ceredigion Coastal Path features numerous trails to choose from depending on how far you wish to travel. Whether for a full walking holiday or just a stroll along the cliffs to a village pub, this unspoilt route is perfect and has views out across the famous Cardigan Bay which is home to the UKs largest pod of dolphins.

Dotted along the Wales-West England border are lots of lovely market towns, many of which have their own castle. This disputed ground has a large number of Roman and Norman medieval fortresses, today some are only ruins or just the earthen works remain however there are plenty which have restored to their former glory and are open to visitors.

Mid Wales also just touches on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, a popular mountain range for exploring caves, forest activities and other more extreme outdoor sports such as rock climbing and abseiling. A number of historic railways mean other regions of Wales are easily accessible for a day trip, and make for an enjoyable way to travel and take in the sights.
