Comfortable Holiday Home, near Brecon (UPENBR)

The Property is an elegant family house nestled high up in the tiny hamlet of Llanfilo, with its glorious St. Bilo Church originally dating back from the thirteenth century; the house has magnificent views over The Wye Valley and surrounding rolling hills. This is a charming family house created around an original 17th Century shepherd's cottage. It is a fascinating house full of really interesting antique and handmade furniture, many works of art, paintings and collectors' items - it is very spacious with masses of room for everyone to spread out and have a private space if wanted.

The Property mixes the old with the new - original oak beams and new wooden ash floors with all of the modern comforts of a large family home. It is only 2 miles from Talgarth, 7 miles from Brecon and 9 miles from Hay-on-Wye so it is a perfect base for exploring the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains National Park and has storage for bikes or walking kit.

With two sets of stairs and living and sleeping accommodation on either side of the central kitchen/dining area creating a combination of shared facilities and private spaces, The Property is ideal for family groups or groups of friends. Due to the design of this attractive house and garden where there are steep sloping lawns, we feel young children should be strictly supervised.

Cottage Accommodation:

Sleeps 8, 4 Bedrooms

The house is entered on the ground floor into a large games room with a fine antique three-quarter size snooker table - this is guaranteed to keep people happy for hours.

Up a fairly narrow stairs to first floor:

There is a contemporary superb long kitchen and dining room with a large electric 5 hob Range master, dishwasher, microwave, large fridge, freezer and TV with Freesat - down a couple of steps to a delightful sunny garden room with a sofa and chairs - door out to the garden.

A utility room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer and a sink.

A separate cloakroom with hand basin and toilet.

Two extremely spacious sitting rooms both with gorgeous panoramic views - the first one above the games room is reached up a flight of stairs, it is oak panelled, has comfy sofa and chairs - some lovely paintings by both national and local artists and a sun room again with conservatory sofa and breakfast/card table and chairs.

The second sitting/library room at the other side of the house is again very spacious with book lined walls, lovely views, sofa and green leather reclining chairs and with a marvellous large 50" TV with Freesat and blu-ray and a great supply of DVD's. Again patio doors lead out to the raised garden.

From this room a flight of beautiful handmade ash stairs lead up to a separate fine:

Master Bedroom 1: with a super-king sized bed with an en-suite shower, hand basin, and toilet.

From the centre of the house the main flight of stairs lead up to:

Second Floor with an antique chest and a fine Grandfather clock on the landing.

Bedroom 2: A double bed

Bedroom 3: A smaller double bedroom

Bedroom 4: Has twin beds with desk if anyone has work to finish.

Family bathroom: There is a lovely new power shower over the bath, hand basin and toilet.

LocationMid Wales

This is the go to place for outdoor enthusiasts to make the most of the fantastic walking, riding & cycling opportunities, especially in the Cambrian Mountains National Park. The Ceredigion Coastal Path features numerous trails to choose from depending on how far you wish to travel. Whether for a full walking holiday or just a stroll along the cliffs to a village pub, this unspoilt route is perfect and has views out across the famous Cardigan Bay which is home to the UKs largest pod of dolphins.

Dotted along the Wales-West England border are lots of lovely market towns, many of which have their own castle. This disputed ground has a large number of Roman and Norman medieval fortresses, today some are only ruins or just the earthen works remain however there are plenty which have restored to their former glory and are open to visitors.

Mid Wales also just touches on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, a popular mountain range for exploring caves, forest activities and other more extreme outdoor sports such as rock climbing and abseiling. A number of historic railways mean other regions of Wales are easily accessible for a day trip, and make for an enjoyable way to travel and take in the sights.
