Charming Family Retreat, near Crickhowell (ADAMSBR)

A superbly restored, luxurious and elegant Grade II listed Georgian town house. Part of this large family house used to be the old Hancock's brewery. Just a walk across the road to the River Usk waterside meadows.

Great attention has been paid to the smallest detail to emphasise the finer points of this lovely and comfortable family house. The property has ample space and is much larger inside than one would expect. Two families can easily stay there together with plenty of personal space and hideways for the children.

For Crickhowell, it is a great advantage having parking for three cars and a small enclosed garden; this lovely four storey house is within easy walking distance of the centre of the picturesque small market town of Crickhowell. Perfect for enjoying the local shops, cafes, restaurants or eating out at the excellent local country pubs. Just a minutes' walk to the River Usk and local pub The Bridge End.

Accommodation

Sleeps 8/9 - 2 Super King-Size Rooms, 2 King-Size Rooms

With its heavy oak beams, the beautiful kitchen is in the basement of the house, which has very cleverly been opened up to ensure there is plenty of light with a glass screen and a flight of steps down. There is a pretty small featured alcove used for storage over 200 years ago.

At the back of the kitchen there is another little snug with an air hockey table for children - this is always very popular with guests.

The kitchen has the original flagstone floors but with underfloor heating - ensuring this is always a warm, welcoming and sociable room to gather around the long table at meal times. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to be able to cook a special meal for a group of friends or family; an electric double oven range cooker with a gas hob, a large "American style" fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, etc.

A utility room outside with washing machine and tumble dryer.

A separate outside toilet and small bike shed.

On the ground floor are two sitting rooms both with beautiful, original, wide dark oak floor- boards giving the house a feeling of warmth and the fine old period of the property.

The first sitting room has a wood burning stove, sofas and chairs and a window looking out down the garden to the hills beyond. TV with Freesat & a DVD.

The second sitting room again with comfortable sofas and chairs, a lovely persian rug and a fine "featured" Georgian Fireplace, TV with Freesat.

Downstairs cloakroom with a toilet and hand basin.

Up a flight of oak stairs to two very spacious and luxurious bedrooms and a bathroom:

Bedroom 1: A King-Size bed

Bedroom 2: A King-Size bed

Family Bathroom with a roll top bath, a hand held shower over the bath, hand basin and toilet.

Up a further flight of stairs to another two really superb bedrooms with the most gorgeous VIEWS over the roof tops of Crickhowell towards the Black Mountains and down The Usk Valley.

Bedroom 3: A bedroom with a Super King-Size bed and views up the Usk Valley and beyond. The views here are truly lovely to wake-up to.

Bedroom 4: A bedroom with a Super King-Size bed. There is also a single bed and on the floor a lovely Persian rug.

Bathroom - a lovely bright and airy shower room with a large shower, hand basin and toilet.

LocationMid Wales

This is the go to place for outdoor enthusiasts to make the most of the fantastic walking, riding & cycling opportunities, especially in the Cambrian Mountains National Park. The Ceredigion Coastal Path features numerous trails to choose from depending on how far you wish to travel. Whether for a full walking holiday or just a stroll along the cliffs to a village pub, this unspoilt route is perfect and has views out across the famous Cardigan Bay which is home to the UKs largest pod of dolphins.

Dotted along the Wales-West England border are lots of lovely market towns, many of which have their own castle. This disputed ground has a large number of Roman and Norman medieval fortresses, today some are only ruins or just the earthen works remain however there are plenty which have restored to their former glory and are open to visitors.

Mid Wales also just touches on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, a popular mountain range for exploring caves, forest activities and other more extreme outdoor sports such as rock climbing and abseiling. A number of historic railways mean other regions of Wales are easily accessible for a day trip, and make for an enjoyable way to travel and take in the sights.
