Children will love the vast spaces and adults will appreciate the elegant, stylish and luxurious interiors.

Dream surroundings

The Property offers accommodation for up to 8 people in 4 large bedrooms. The layout has been designed to take full advantage of both the exposed beams in the roof structure and the large circular windows and as such, the huge open-plan kitchen/sitting/dining room is on the first floor. There are many lovely features in this cottage but the entrance hall is particularly breath-taking with its tall glazing allowing light to stream in, the beautiful flagstone floor and galleried staircase add to the grandeur.

A beautiful and historical setting

Nestled within the lush Wye Valley and originally a farm built to serve Maesllwch Castle, The Property lies between the picturesque 15th century castle and the River Wye at Glasbury. The cobbled courtyard retains many of its 18th century features including beautiful stone arches and the original stalls for the horses. With the owners house in one corner, the cottages Jessica, The Property and Yellow Drama form two sides of the original farm yard. There is separate driveway access behind the buildings for visitors staying at The Property and Yellow Drama. The rather flamboyant names for each property are derived from yachts and race boats, reflecting the owner's successful career in the yachting world. Beautiful, mature gardens lie to the rear of the properties and a private terrace area is provided for each. Children will love the vast lawns behind the cottages and are welcome to explore and play in the large field nearby.

Days out to remember

Gather the group in the morning and make the short walk to the River Cafe on the banks of the Wye at Glasbury. Enjoy an almond croissant or a bacon sandwich on the terrace overlooking the river before grabbing a delicious packed lunch and heading down the steps to Wye Valley Canoes. They can provide one or two-man kayaks, or a larger canoe if you need to accommodate a small child, as well as all the equipment and advice you'll need. Push off from the bank and paddle the 5 miles (or approx. 2 hours) to the lovely town of Hay-on-Wye, or take on the 10 mile paddle to The Boat Inn at Whitney. After working up an appetite you could sit on the river beach at Hay with your packed lunch or eat in one of the great cafe's or pubs in the town. Wye Valley Canoes will arrange to pick you and the boats up whenever you're ready. What a lovely way to travel, and to admire the Wye Valley from a totally different prospective.

Explore Hay-on-Wye

Just 4 miles up the road, or 2 hours by canoe, is Hay-on-Wye. The 'Town of Books' is fascinating, the shops there will not only provide for all your practical needs but also offer hours of browsing. There are boutique clothes shops, antique dealers, retailer's catering for crafts and interiors amongst many other things. There are some excellent pubs and restaurants and the most wonderful, old-fashioned sweetie shop. The little shops sit along quaint, narrow streets with the stunning and picturesque backdrop of Hay's 12th century, partially ruined castle.

Numerous outdoor activities and places to visit

For those looking for an active holiday this location offers a huge choice of outdoor activities and sports. With some of the best cycle routes in the region you'll be spoilt for choice. The incredible Gospel Pass is 5 miles away allowing direct routes into the Llanthony Valley, Offa's Dyke Path, and the National Cycle Route 42. Glanhenwye is also ideally located near The Begwyns, an upland moorland area. Largely unexplored, there are no set walks just a vast, wild and beautiful area to enjoy.

With the River Usk a few minutes walk away, water enthusiasts can enjoy canoeing and fishing. Further activities such as hang gliding, shooting, rock climbing, abseiling, gorge-walking, rafting, pot-holing, golf, off-road driving, paint-balling, orienteering and quad-biking can all be arranged locally, with nearby Llangorse Lake being a popular destination - this is a real hotspot for outdoor activities.

A warm welcome

The owners of Yellow Drama offer a warm welcome. From their home on the opposite side of the cobbled courtyard they are more than happy to accommodate any reasonable requests, whether that be for transport or for a fluent Dutch speaker! A welcome tray is provided at each cottage and please note that a £250 bond per property is payable to the owner upon arrival.
