Pretty Holiday Home, near Newquay

Moonstones is a fabulous, detached bungalow situated just a very short stroll from the fantastic surfing and sandy beach at Holywell Bay, with direct access onto the sand dunes from the rear garden. Perfect for larger family groups, friends or couples away together, the spacious open plan design is light, bright and welcoming. The large picture windows allow lovely views over the rear terrace and garden, to the National Trust dunes and Holywell Bay Golf Club. Holywell Bay is a dog friendly beach all year round and Moonstones allows up to two well-behaved dogs by arrangement.

The very private sunny rear garden with lawns and patio terrace area is fully enclosed and a wonderful spot to enjoy leisurely barbecues or just relax and unwind. Guests are welcome to use the main full-length utility space for storage of surfboards or cycles and there is ample parking for four cars on the block pavoir driveway. As well as two local pubs close by, there are some fantastic dining opportunities with Fifteen at Watergate Bay only 9 miles distant and Padstow with its world famous chefs, a further 12 miles. Birdwatchers will love the surrounding area not only for the native Cornish Choughs recently seen in the garden, but also for the waders on the shoreline.

Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with direct access to a wonderful sandy beach, miles of coastal walks, golf adjacent, horse riding and two separate course fisheries nearby, Moonstones really is the ideal base for a great family seaside getaway.

A bustling seaside resort perfect for the idyllic beach holiday, with plenty of family activities and over 7 miles of sandy beaches.

Fistral beach is one of the world’s top surfing destinations. There are surfing schools and board hire available direct from the beach and a small selection of cafes nearby. Down on the Towan Promenade, overlooking the beach is the Blue Reef Aquarium housing a range of local and exotic species. Just a short walk from the town centre is Newquay Zoo, a fantastic day out with over 130 rare animals and themed trails. A maze, a gift shop and café are also available on site.

The zoo is located within Trenance gardens, which includes swimming pool facilities and a fitness centre in ‘Waterworld’. There is also a skate park, miniature railway, crazy golf and riding stables. Rowing and pedal boats are available to hire, and there is a lakeside café.

Other great days out locally include the Screech Owl Sanctuary and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. A National Trust house open to the public, Trerice Elizabethan Manor has a café facility and gardens. Dairyland Farm World is a great all weather attraction, there is a large indoor play area, nature trail, pony rides and many more family friendly activities.

Cornwall

Cornwall is the most western part of the South West of England and is a very popular holiday destination with its array of golden sand beaches and dramatic cliff top scenery. The Cornish peninsular is bordered by sea, north, south and west with just one (land based) entrance and exit route over the eastern border to Devon. Traditionally fishing, mining and agriculture were the mainstays of the local economy but tourism has since replaced these. Cornwall boasts thousands of acres of un-spoilt moorland protected as an area of outstanding natural beauty. All year round, the 630 miles of coastal walks (preserved in part by the National Trust and Duchy of Cornwall), are enjoyed by walkers of all ages. Cornwall is known for its mild climate giving rise to the plethora of botanical & specialist gardens like the Eden project, Trelissick and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. By escaping to Cornwall you can thoroughly immerse yourself in the many contrasts that draw visitors year after year. From the picturesque fishing villages steeped in history to the iconic Eden Project, looking to the future. Survey the changing landscape from moorland to the dramatic & varied Cornish coastline. Sample the freshest gourmet offerings from the abundance of local produce or simply find a quiet spot and unwind with a Cornish clotted cream ice-cream! Wherever you choose to hang up your boots, you will never be far from the sea.

South West

England’s peninsula incorporates the counties of Cornwall and Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Bristol. This region is mostly rural so is perfect to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, whether relaxing with the family by the seaside or exploring the wild moors and rugged coastline. The area boasts hundreds of beautiful sandy bays to choose from and fantastic surfing opportunities. The historic cities of Exeter, Bath and Gloucester are definitely worth a visit, and with transport links all the way down to Penzance even the famous Lands End and remote Isles of Scilly can be reached.
