Pretty Big Cottage, Robertsbridge

Little Worge Farm Cottages are way, way down in the valley - surrounded by stunning countryside and woods - so quiet and tranquil.....then there is the astounding array of wildlife - lilting birdsong, visiting deer, partridge, pheasant and more. A paradise for walkers and those just needing to get away from it all. The nearby village of Brightling is famous for its collection of fascinating follies, built by the eccentric Victorian squire, John 'Mad Jack' Fuller - they are all on your doorstep. Just along the road is the amazing Brightling Observatory - built for John Fuller in 1810. Both cottages have cosy underfloor heating and easy clean porcelain tiled floors throughout.

LocationRobertsbridge

A medieval village originally founded by 12th century monks, with the River Rother flowing through and many shops & pubs to choose from. The pretty gardens at Merriments Nursery are nice for a quiet stroll and spotting the wildlife from the bird hide.

The impressive moated Bodiam Castle is well worth a visit, visitors can explore the ruins with guided talks from the medieval characters on site. There are also a variety of seasonal events such as medieval cookery, dancing and walks through the grounds. Run by the National Trust, Batemans House was the home of Rudyard Kipling and hosts a range of events through the year such as smuggling trails, photography and painting workshops. The 300 acres of grounds are a mix of woodland trails and meadows.

A short drive north is the Bedgebury National Pinetum which is great for walks and picnics. There are a huge range of activities to choose from including mountain biking, archery and the Go Ape tree swings, rope bridges and zip lines. The historic Great Dixter House offers guided tours of the stunning formal gardens and orchard grounds, this is a must for any horticultural enthusiasts and in the Summer there are workshops which can be booked in advance.
