This coastal town has a long sweeping beach great for families to enjoy a paddle and part of the Saxon Shore Way is the Royal Military Canal Path ideal for walking enthusiasts. There are plenty of shops and cafes to choose from, the promenade is nice to stroll along and take in the sea views. The open bay is popular for kite and wind surfing. Farmers markets are held in the town and the Malthouse has a variety of craft and antique stalls. Locally there are sailing clubs and sea fishing available.

A unique attraction of the town is the Crypt of St Leonard’s Church, a spooky and unusual collection of ancient bones. The medieval castles of Saltwood Castle and Lympne Castle originally defended this area, and the Port Lympne Reserve has a 600 acre African Safari experience. A fantastic family day out and the Dinosaur Forest is fun for the younger ones.

The nearby railway is a great way to explore the local countryside and make day trips to other coastal towns. The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch steam railway has a calendar of events such as children’s fun weekends and dining galas. This area is also renowned for its Martello Towers; there are several in Hythe to spot. The walks around the Brockhill Country Park have amazing views of the English Channel.
