Just step off the main street and straight into the tardis, which is The Property! Set in the pretty village location of Sandhurst, this beamed property is full of character, with many artistic touches. There is a ground floor family suite, and a rear garden for relaxing in at the end of the day. Sandhurst has everything from a lovely tea-room, pub, well-stocked local shop and garage. There are some great foodie pubs and the Kino digital cinema in nearby Hawkhurst. Its central location means this is a brilliant base for touring all over Kent and Sussex and closeby you will find Bodiam Castle, Pashley Manor and Hole Park Gardens, historic Rye and Camber Sands. Sandhurst has its very own vineyard, which is just along the road - well worth a visit. Trains to London and Hastings from Etchingham - five miles. Shop: 0.5 miles Pub: 0.5 miles Coast: 14 miles

This pretty village is a great central location for touring all over Kent and Sussex, with good rail links for day trips to London and Hastings. The steam railway from Tenterden is a lovely way to explore the rural countryside through the Rother Valley. Nearby is the moated 14th century Bodiam Castle, visitors can explore the ruins with guided talks from the medieval characters on site. There are also a variety of seasonal events such as medieval cookery, dancing and walks through the grounds.

The gardens at Pashley Manor are famous for the Tulip Festival and throughout the grounds are interesting sculptures and walks around the Old Moat. Other local gardens include Great Dixter House and Hole Park where cream teas served in the beautiful gardens and conducted tours can be booked of the 15 acres of grounds. The dunes at Camber Sands and the historic fortified town of Rye are worth a visit if making a day trip to the coast.

Chapel Down Winery offers guided tours of the vinery and a shop on site sells their wine and other local produce. Bedgebury National Pinetum has various walking and cycling routes through the forest. The Kino Digital venue has a fantastic choice of films, ballet and opera.
