This bustling marina is packed with yachts and has the status of being England’s only Royal Harbour. There are boat trips out to Goodwin Sands for seal watching, and plenty of nearby beaches to explore. Housed in The Clock House is the Maritime Museum with fascinating exhibits of shipwrecks, the towns navigation and fishing history. For something different visit the nostalgic Micro Museum which showcases vintage games, toys and computers.
The Ramsgate Tunnels are an incredible network built under the town from World War 2. Today visitors can navigate these makeshift homes and railway tunnels which were used to shelter thousands during the raids. The Shrine of St Augustine is worth a visit, where guided tours are available. A short walk from the train station is Ellington Park which has a great outdoor play area, bowling green and a miniature steam railway line.
Pegwell Bay Country Park has great views out across to Deal and Sandwich. Forming part of the Sandwich & Pegwell Nature Reserve, the bay is perfect for watching the thousands of migrating birds and local birds of prey. There is an outdoor play area and activity trails for the younger ones to explore the woods. The King George VI Memorial Park is ideal for a relaxing stroll and in the Summer refreshments are served from the restored Italianate glasshouse.
