This small coastal village has a sweeping sandy beach with the only sand dune system in Sussex. Due to its desert like appearance the bay has been used for numerous film locations, the large open space and powerful coastal winds make this a perfect spot for wind and water sports. There are various hire companies and schools locally for taking part in kite surfing and kite buggy lessons.

The Rye Harbour Nature Reserve if a mixed habitat of shingle and marshland, there is a network of paths with bird watching hides for spotting the wading birds and bird migration. There are plenty of golf courses in the area and for a wider selection of amenities and attractions; the nearby town of Rye is only a short drive away. Also in the area Rye Castle Museum and Ypres Tower are worth a visit, there are guided tours available with impressive views from the tower out across the harbour.
