Well Appointed Holiday House, Bowness on Windermere

This substantial detached Lake District residence is a great place to spend precious time together with breathtaking panoramic views overlooking England's largest lake, occupying an idyllic setting only a couple of miles from the village centre. The three story property has a feeling of a 'Swiss chalet' at first glance yet set overlooking Lake Windermere we know its exact location well!

The open - plan main living area has a views to die for, and access to the top floor large balcony, what a great place to enjoy al-fresco life. Outside are parkland style gardens open to neighbouring properties and inside the top floor has the very best view, where the living accommodation is found including the kitchen and a snug; there are 7 bedrooms and we advertise the property to accommodate 14 yet two of the double bedrooms have single beds also meaning 16 can stay here occasionally; these 7 bedrooms have 5 bathroom facilities to reduce queuing!

We think you will agree this is a sociable house in a choice setting and one where large families and friends can spread out yet be together. The area has everything you could wish for and bustling Bowness-on-Windermere will tempt you out to sample excellent restaurants and cuisine.

Accommodation in detail

Ample parking outside plus a useful garage. Entrance at ground floor level with a double bedroom and a twin bedroom plus a bathroom with shower over the bath. At this level is a cloakroom / 6th WC / wash basin. On the first floor is the open-plan living area with wrap around sofas by the warming woodburner and wall of glass leading out to the large balcony, complete with furniture and the wonderful view.

The living area is open to the huge dining table and a few steps up to the well equipped kitchen. On this level is what we call a 'snug' a great place to escape and watch a good film. Also on the first floor are 3 double bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms and both with showers over baths and one has a Jacuzzi bath. One of these double bedrooms has an extra single bed. There is also a shower facility on this level. The Mezzanine level has two further bedrooms, one double and one double with extra single bed for occasional use and these rooms have a bathroom with shower over bath.

Location

This substantial Bowness holiday home takes a peaceful scenic location, just a short distance from the heart of Bowness. Bowness-on-Windermere is a popular Lake District holiday location, nestling on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere and alive with all the boating activities of Bowness Bay. Enjoy sophisticated shops, tempting cafes, excellent Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs, or stroll to the pier to hop on a Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - a lovely way to explore without even using your car.

Couples or groups of friends will find plenty of evening venues to explore - from the cosy and traditional 'Hole int Wall' to the trendy Bodega & Sol tapas bar. Families can take their pick from a range of attractions in Bowness; mini golf on the Glebe, the famous World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, the Royalty Cinema and the Old Laundry Theatre.

Enjoying the wider Lake District is simple and easy with a self-catering property in Bowness as your starting point. The famously scenic A591 leads from nearby Windermere village to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. It's a breeze to branch off and explore Ullswater, via the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, or Langdale, Hawkshead and Coniston Water.

LocationCumbria & The Lake District

The rural county of Cumbria is one of the most attractive in England. It contains the whole of the area known as the Lake District, as well as the northern part of the Pennines mountain range and, somewhat counter-intuitively, a part of the Yorkshire Dales.

The county is replete with attractions for the visitor, its historic heritage ranging from houses and gardens to stone circles and activities ranging from walking and climbing to watersports and fishing. Cumbria's lakes, valleys and fells can loosely be broken down into eight areas.

The North Lakes are the most popular with the serious outdoor enthusiast and the South Lakes draw most of the holidaymakers. The Western Lakes are less busy but still hold some varied attractions and appeal to the walkers as well as families and groups. They are home to England's tallest mountain, known as Scafell Pike.

East Lakes has its quota of mountains too, including the well-known Helvellyn, and is a fairly quiet area. Visit the Eden Valley and North Pennine area for wilderness, castles and rural villages, or perhaps consider North and South Cumbria. In the former we find Hadrian's Wall and the city of Carlisle. In the latter, coastal resorts and the biggest town, Kendal. Finally, the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful part of Cumbria with country pubs, easy walking, and a thriving arts scene.
