Relax and enjoy this beautiful mansion, just perfect for celebrating that special occasion with family and friends.  Nestled in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside Blaithwaite Estate is surrounded by 80 acres of estate grounds made up of 30 acres of gardens and grounds and 50 acres of woodland.  The spacious Grade II listed holiday home is awash with original features from original ceiling roses and exquisite fireplaces to stained glass windows which adorn the building, helping it achieve its listed status. 

Living Space

Comfortable accommodation is provided for up to forty people, in single, double and family rooms.  The bedrooms, all but one room with en-suite facilities, enjoy views down to the sprawling front lawn and rose garden or across the courtyard.  There's an external laundry room (shared with the other property on-site).

Additional Accommodation (as extra)

The  old stable building has been carefully renovated to a very good standard, while keeping characterful original features such as the old range, but don’t worry, guests have all the modern conveniences to cook with! Twenty people can be comfortably accommodated in eight rooms, all but one room are en-suite, and two of the ground floor bedrooms are wheelchair friendly. They overlook the old courtyard with access to the beautiful orchard, miniature golf and garden chess set.

These two properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 60 guests.

Grounds & Surrounds

There's a formal garden with manicured lawns and a charming walled rose garden with a beautiful summerhouse set on an island.

The grounds play host to a wealth of activities made available, by the owners (at cost).  These include clay pigeon shooting, archery, laser tag, mountain boarding, mini golf, climbing, relaxing guided walks and craft workshops.  The woodland is made up of rare specialist trees and fascinating wetlands which you can explore for hours in peace.

If you somehow run out of things to do on the estate or simply fancy exploring the area, you're midway between Keswick and Carlisle where you can find a great range of shops, restaurants and bars, plus museums and activities to suit a wide range of tastes and interests.

Notes & Warnings

There are 15 steps, 33 yards from the mansion house, and an unfenced pond/small lake with the ornamental summerhouse, 66 yards from the mansion house.  There are 3 other unfenced ponds within the 80 acres of grounds.

Biomass central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels and an initial stock of logs for wood burner.

LocationCumbria & The Lake District

The rural county of Cumbria is one of the most attractive in England. It contains the whole of the area known as the Lake District, as well as the northern part of the Pennines mountain range and, somewhat counter-intuitively, a part of the Yorkshire Dales.

The county is replete with attractions for the visitor, its historic heritage ranging from houses and gardens to stone circles and activities ranging from walking and climbing to watersports and fishing. Cumbria's lakes, valleys and fells can loosely be broken down into eight areas.

The North Lakes are the most popular with the serious outdoor enthusiast and the South Lakes draw most of the holidaymakers. The Western Lakes are less busy but still hold some varied attractions and appeal to the walkers as well as families and groups. They are home to England's tallest mountain, known as Scafell Pike.

East Lakes has its quota of mountains too, including the well-known Helvellyn, and is a fairly quiet area. Visit the Eden Valley and North Pennine area for wilderness, castles and rural villages, or perhaps consider North and South Cumbria. In the former we find Hadrian's Wall and the city of Carlisle. In the latter, coastal resorts and the biggest town, Kendal. Finally, the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful part of Cumbria with country pubs, easy walking, and a thriving arts scene.
