Wonderful Lakeland holidays are made here at The Property, a substantial detached and simply magnificent Lake District residence built in 1799, occupying a secluded setting at the southern tip of Lake Windermere with spectacular far reaching surrounding views and above all a magical atmosphere. It's a 5 minute walk to the National Trust Fell Foot Park and Lake Windermere.

This beautiful Lakeland residence is steeped in history being once a school house and still displaying a plaque on the exterior, yet inside the 'house school rules' are to relax and thoroughly enjoy... All this history and character are evident here blending effortlessly with modern day sophistication making this Lakeland hideaway something very special. The mixture of slate and carpeted floors, oak beams, picture windows and the warming woodburning stove set in an inglenook fireplace are complimented by sumptuous furnishings, "state of the art" 21st century 5 stars bathrooms and chic bedrooms.

The conservatory is a great place to relax and enjoy formal dining together and the loft bedroom is that little bit special complete with star gazing facility from the comfort of your bed and don't forget the luxurious en-suite with roll top bath. Needless to say walks are tremendous straight from your door here including the National Trust 'Fell Foot Park' only a 5 minute stroll away where you can wander by the lake and soak up the breathtaking views. Your own acre of gardens and woodland are a delight and a full of great places to explore and the small hamlet of Newby Bridge is only a mile or so away. If searching for a magical Lakeland 'getaway from it all holiday', in this beautiful corner of England, then you will find The Property very hard to beat.


Accommodation to detail

An entrance hall with slate floor and 17th century settle leads into the inner hallway with wonderful drawing room housing the inglenook fireplace and woodburner which opens into the dining conservatory overlooking the garden; a great place to relax, enjoy good food and wine and conversation late into the night. The recently refurbished breakfast kitchen has everything you need, including an American style fridge/freezer and an electric range with gas hob. From here there are doors opening out to the patio and garden. On the ground floor are a double bedroom and a luxurious shower room with power shower.

Also on the ground floor is the games room with pool table, here the competitive side of you will come out. Upstairs to the first floor; king size bedroom with beautiful views, flat screen TV, dressing room and en-suite bathroom with bath and separate double shower cubicle complete with power shower. There are two further bedrooms on this level; one double and one twin bedroom and a luxury shower room with double cubicle. Upstairs again to the loft bedroom (restricted headroom) complete with king size star gazing bed and beautiful en-suite with roll top bath. Outside are the gardens and woodland glade extending to an acre, with some beautiful vantage points and perfect for summer al-fresco living with the furniture provided.

LocationCumbria & The Lake District

The rural county of Cumbria is one of the most attractive in England. It contains the whole of the area known as the Lake District, as well as the northern part of the Pennines mountain range and, somewhat counter-intuitively, a part of the Yorkshire Dales.

The county is replete with attractions for the visitor, its historic heritage ranging from houses and gardens to stone circles and activities ranging from walking and climbing to watersports and fishing. Cumbria's lakes, valleys and fells can loosely be broken down into eight areas.

The North Lakes are the most popular with the serious outdoor enthusiast and the South Lakes draw most of the holidaymakers. The Western Lakes are less busy but still hold some varied attractions and appeal to the walkers as well as families and groups. They are home to England's tallest mountain, known as Scafell Pike.

East Lakes has its quota of mountains too, including the well-known Helvellyn, and is a fairly quiet area. Visit the Eden Valley and North Pennine area for wilderness, castles and rural villages, or perhaps consider North and South Cumbria. In the former we find Hadrian's Wall and the city of Carlisle. In the latter, coastal resorts and the biggest town, Kendal. Finally, the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful part of Cumbria with country pubs, easy walking, and a thriving arts scene.
