  • "The cottage was lovely and user friendly."

Very close to Perth centre and amenities, easy reach to Dundee, Edinburgh via the motorway. There were a couple of small things that would be helpful, the bathroom door does not close because of the strike plate position, and a new frying pan that does not stick would be welcomed. If you drive know your car well as the driveway has a little bit of a tight entrance but can be mastered quite quickly. Overall we would stay there again as it is a lovely little cottage in a great location

Thanks for your positive comments. Good to know about the frying pan. I will replace it. Great that you found the drive ok after the initial entrance. I will investigate what has set the bathroom door off kilter. Hope you had a safe trip home. Property Owner

The only thing we didn’t like about it was the entrance into it, it was very tight and steep to drive in. Apart from that it was fine.

Luxurious bathroom. Lots of walks from the cottage but you need to be reasonably fit as there are lots of hills to some breath taking views. We thoroughly enjoyed it as did our little dog but we wore her out! We loved the dog friendly cafe in Perth 'Brew and Chew' which had dog treats on the menu too. You could chose to eat indoors or outdoors. Lovely quaint city so much to explore in and around Perth. Hosts extremely knowledgeable about the local area.

Thank you so much for your very positive comments. We are glad you made it up to the viewpoints on KInnoull Hill and glad to hear about Brew and Chew. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was lovely, could not fault it."

Just as I wrote in guest book, the downfall we felt was the garden. Not enclosed for dog friendly cottage, and as for the garden, if you wanted to sit outside, it really is the owners garden for their use eg washing.

Thank you for staying and some lovely comments in book about the actual cottage. So sorry you felt that about the Garden but the cottage details do say it is in our garden. We also have very clearly labelled bins and directions for recycling so it would have been nice if you had managed to adhere to them and deposit glass etc in the correct receptacles. We have lived here for over 20 years and have had three dogs with no issues of safety so we are puzzled by your comments in regard to the security of the garden. The majority of our clients seem to be happy with the arrangements. Thank you once again for your comments which have helped us be even clearer in our welcome letter to clients. It would have been nice if you had spoken to us about your concerns so that we could have helped you address them. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, good facilities and great location."

However there is no garden as shown in the listing photos. The lawn is the owners and fenced off. The garden furniture is replaced by the bins by your bedroom window. In reality there is an area of gravel to park your car. The area is not secure for dogs, the main gate is always open. Contrary to the owners comments they use their garden on a regular basis. Playing with their grand children, putting their washing out, mowing the lawn and emptying their bins by the bedroom window. All a couple of meters away. So if you have a dog or like your privacy, think about it.

  • "Good location in Perth close to river sculpture park."

Cottage was in very clean, with well furnished kitchen. Bathroom and bedroom were modern, lovely hot shower. The sofa we found was very hard and uncomfortable to sit on. Note to dog owners, there is no enclosed garden to the property, Unfortunately i didnt realise on booking, there is a gravel area directly in front of the cottage, where you can park, but no where you can have a dog off lead. Owners cottage is very close to cottage so if you like to sit out in privacy, probably not the right property for you. Overall a good property, would recommend.

I am so sorry that you did not feel that you could let your dog off the lead. The garden, which is part of our larger property, is totally enclosed by a high wall, front and back if you shut the gates. I am also sorry that you did not find the sofa comfortable. There are another two very, comfortable swivel chairs with footstools in the lounge which can be used. Although the garden is the top part of our one it is only overlooked by our bedroom window and utility room. We do have a summer house in the back garden but try not to use it when we have guests staying. I do so hope this clarifies some of the points that you have raised. It's a pity that we did not manage you meet you as you were out most of the time during your stay with us as you were visiting relatives. We would have been able to reassure you about letting your dog off the lead safely. Thank you for your positive comments about the location and cleanliness of the property. Property Owner

We are perfectly happy to have the gates closed top and bottom of the property, that is, our entrance and the one to the cottage so that it becomes secure as the garden is totally bordered by high walls. in fact, we used to close the gates all of the time when we had a a dog and continue to do so when we look after our grandchildren and their dogs. It is step free access and throughout with central heating and under floor heating in the bathroom. The owners who live next door were very friendly and helpful and were regularly on hand to answer any questions. The cottage is located on the edge of Perth, with plenty of attractions including Edinburgh within an hours drive. There are many things which are within walking distance for dogs including dog friendly cafes in Perth. The town has supermarkets, bars, restaurants and shops which are within walking distance. The town has lots of disabled parking if needed. Many reviews comment on the narrow drive. The initial access is a private drive which only one car can fit through at a time but I didn’t see another car on there during the week. I managed to get into the drive with an estate car large enough for 4 people, luggage and a Labrador. The drive is essentially an S bend into the cottage with a large area to turn around at the top. It is easily accessible for anything less than a minibus, which would still probably fit with care. I would highly recommend this property and we have every intention of going back.

Very quiet and dark at night so no light pollution.Although only four rooms, including bathroom, the cottage is a long house and therefore feels spacious. Fantastic shower room with underfloor heating, quite newly fitted I would guess, large shower cubicle adapted for the elderly. A well equipped kitchen, plenty of storage space. The main thing to note is the access and parking, the lane is narrow and the entrance is quite tight if you have anything larger than say a Peugeot 308, a Citroen C4 Picasso, a Ford CMax. The surrounding countryside is, or course, magnificent and if it's your first visit there is something different to do every day - walking, shopping, theatre & concerts, heritage sites etc.etc. Don't be put off by the weather either, Perth is one of the driest places in Scotland - a week in January and not one drop of rain and never below 8C during the day. We would definitely go back if possible.

To start with, the owner Frances called a few days ahead to see if we needed milk put in the fridge. She also offered the use of a dog bed and food bowl. This I was not expecting so off to a good start. The cottage itself was superb. Frances had left notes to explain how the TV and free view box work, how to work the key safe, and to explain she was having issues with the broadband but offered the use of her house system if needed. There was just about every tourist information leaflet you could possibly need along with a selection of books, DVD's and CD's. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and probably had more things in it that I have at home. The bathroom is superb. Very well appointed with underfloor heating and loads of room. The shower was great and the towels were top quality too. The bedroom is ample big enough with loads of wardrobe space. The white decor helped it have a lovely bright airy feeling. The cottage is up a narrow lane which was quiet, and only a ten minute or so walk to the city centre. Frances had left a welcome basket with chocolates, oatcakes, ground coffee, apples, Apple juice and olives. While we never used any of this the offer was certainly appreciated. So to sum up, Garden Cottage is a superb holiday let being very well appointed and providing everything you could possibly need. Great central but quiet location improved by having a very considerate owner. We would certainly go back again.
