  • "One of the main reasons for choosing this site was the availability of a pool and sauna, which was not available through our two night stay."

We were advised by reception after we had arrived that they had broken down and needed a part and would not be available until further notice. It was disappointing that no phone call or advance notification given as this would have definitely contributed as to whether we would continue with the stay at that location however I had specifically enquired about the availability at date of stay before booking. We were there celebrating a friends 60th birthday. This is something that can't be done again there are no reruns and the unavailability if these facilities did Marr the occasion plus we would gave paid as part of the overall cost to be able to use these I have already raised our disappointment and have been assigned a case number but not heard anything since again another disappointment.

Hi Julie. We are really sorry that the boiler for the swimming pool broke down during the time of you 2 night stay. This is obviously out of our hands but glad we came to a resolution. Hope you will decide to visit again. Colin and Zoe Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at Brunston before and its a lovely location."

The lodge we had was very clean and had everything we needed. The cafe on site is a great place for a coffee with very friendly reception staff and wasnt busy at all. Lots of places to visit around the area, Robert Burns museum , Culzean Castle well worth a look. Isle of Arran is lovely but watch the weather, we got stuck there for 3 days !! Would def recommend and the price for the lodge for 7 days was a bargain.

Hi Lee. We are so glad that you enjoyed the lodge and activities. There are lotsof things to do in the local area. Hope you will visit again in future. Colin and Zoe Property Owner

  • "We found everything in the lodge as described."

We were informed by Sykes that the arrival time was 3pm but on arrival at 3.10pm we were told by the staff at Brunston that the arrival time was actually 4pm. We had to wait until 3.45pm when we were told we could go in. This needs sorting. The roads in the Brunston Castle lodges are in a terrible state and had to drive through very carefully and slowly to avoid causing damage to our car. Apart from that and the poor weather we enjoyed our stay at the lodge.

Hi Dennis, glad you enjoyed your stay in the lodge and found the descriptions of the lodge accurate. We are sorry for the confusion on check in times. We have rectified this. We hope you will visit again. Zoe and Colin Property Owner

Minor problem TV has a possible fault kept shutting down saying no aerial connection. The road around the site and approach are full of potholes and bumpy. Would recommend visitors need a 4x4!!!! Overall very pleased with our stay would come back.

Hi Jean, we are so pleased that you find the site and accommodation beautiful. Thanks for highlighting the issue with the oven. The missing glass in the door has been replaced. We would love to welcome you back in future. Thanks for the feedback. Property Owner

The lodge was clean and ideal for what we needed. The facilities were great. The only point that should be mentioned is kids can’t access the gym and sauna and have to be supervised in the pool. My teenagers were disappointed at this but I would definitely recommend this location and would go back. It’s close to lovely beaches and towns plus sites to visit. It’s also perfect for golf lovers. Overall a great holiday experience.

Thankyou for the feedback and glad you found the accommodation and location to be excellent and the lodge clean. Also glad you found the facilities to be great. We hope you will be back again in future. Zoe and Colin Property Owner

  • "Enjoyable stay, on a pleasant resort."

It's a prefab chalet rather than a cottage and the listing could perhaps make this clearer. Property itself is a bit dated and bathroom/furnishings etc are tired but was clean and comfortable. Pool/gym opening times were a bit limited for us - last entry at 7pm and no solo swimming which meant we couldn't take it in turns to use the facilities in the evening as planned. Quiet area but plenty to do within 20/30 minute drive (car essential).

  • "Everything was as advertised & excellent."

It suited our purpose exactly for our golf visit. Only a couple of negatives. The main bathroom only had a handheld shower which was not suitable for a proper shower, we had to all use the on suite. Also we had two cars & although the site was quiet they told us it was a private cottage & their site policy was one per cottage.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are delighted you found the property was excellent and suited your purpose for a golf trip. There are many good golf courses near the property which we enjoy. Turnberry is a highlight even for non golfers and only a few miles away. We recommend a trip to the lighthouse for a coffee and down to the beach. We hope you visit again soon. Colin and Zoe. The entire home was clean and had everything we needed to experience a gone away from home. I must admit on the drive we were beginning to worry as all we saw were farms and hills no sign of activities but trust me once we got there there was so much to do. We even went to the beach which is only 7min drive unbelievably as all you see is hills. We surely would like to come back again and highly recommended it. My mum felt special as she celebrated her birthday there.

  • "The property was lovely as was the late afternoon / evening staff at the leisure centre / reception."

The day time staff however made us feel really unwelcome, even my kids was taken back by the way the day time staff treated us. We visit Brunston Castle resort with the intention to look for a place we could easily escape to as a family on a regular occasion and if the opportunity presented itself, maybe even invest there. However after this weekend we won’t go back there due to the way we were made to feel unwelcome. The surface around the pool has just been repainted and I would advise people to be very careful as it is very slippery.

  • "We love Brunston Castle but missed the bar, pool etc with them being closed."

At least the mini golf flags were out (take your own putters whilst Covid19 is about) and the kids climbing frame open. We stayed in number 28 and found the accommodation dirty. The kitchen sides were dirty. There was food crumbs and sweet wrappers in the lounge. We moved the single chair by the patio door and found toe nail clippings on the carpet and chewing gum stuck to the ashtray outside. The shower was warm in the morning but we had no hot water in the evening when getting ready to go out. This was sorted by changing the timer settings on the panel in the kitchen. The bed mattresses were hard and none of us slept that well. The outdoor furniture comprises of 2 plastic square tables and 6 plastic chairs. 2 of the chairs were broken and the others were uncomfortable to sit on. However. The kitchen had a Nespresso coffee maker, washing machine, full size fridge/ freezer, dish washer and plenty of crockery and glasses. The rooms are a good size and parking is directly outside the property. If travelling with children we can highly recommend the following activities: Heads of Ayr Animal Farm Park Culvean Country Park Ayr sea front by the pavilion. A trip to Arran from Ardrossan. Great places to eat: Yasmins, Indian in Girvan. Cecchinis, Italian in Ayr Little Rock, cafe bar in Brodick Pavilion cafe in Ayr Souters Inn in Kirkoswald (expensive by very nice)

  • "This cottage was by far the worst I have stayed in and I as really disappointed in the standard and cleanliness of this lodge."

I contacted Sykes and informed them of my problems and my concerns and also asked them not to get the owner to ring me as I did not want a confrontation with the owner whilst I was on holiday, guess what this request was ignored. The subsequent conversation with the owner was pretty much what I was expecting he could not understand that there could be any issues as he loved going on holiday there and he could see no problems with his property. The problems were dirty and stained carpets, he know about this and they were in the process of getting them replaced!!!!, dirty windows and a deck area that was slippy and needed pressure washing. no remote for tv the owner told me to contact receptionist they might have one !!!!. The lodge photographs well but in reality it is in the centre of the complex and gets very little sun doe to trees and its orientation. This lodge had a similar complaint earlier in the year but I was assured by Sykes that the issues had been taken care of this was not the case. I was contacted by Sykes and given £50,00 compensation this was very little considering myself and my friends had spent a week of our time and the cost of the lodge in a very disappointing and dare I say grubby accommodation.

The lodge was spacious and very comfortable...and very quiet :-) The lodge also had laundry stands, ironing board, hoover, etc etc. The only downside was, the wifi signal was very poor in the lodge we were in probably because it was down near bottom of site but we used our own data to keep up with social media!!!!! About the location

DAILLY

Ayr 16 miles.

Located on the Water of Girvan in South Ayrshire, Dailly, or ‘New Dailly’ to distinguish it from ‘Old Dailly’, was developed in the mid 18th-century as a coal mining village. The ruins of the Robert Adam-designed Dalquharran Castle stand on a hill overlooking the village. The ruined church at Old Dailly dates from pre-Reformation times, and houses the mysterious Blue Stones; thought to be Charter Stones, ancient symbols granted to an area in place of a written charter, several legends have grown up around them. One holds they were Sanctuary Stones and would protect anyone sitting against them, and another belief is that their mystical powers would bring good fortune to anyone touching them. The village of Dailly today has a pub, shop and post office and the series of Dailly Trails make for ideal walking, forming part of the Carrick Way. Dailly’s proximity to the Ayrshire coast makes it an ideal venue for exploring the many golf courses, beaches and castles, including spectacular Culzean Castle, and with the Galloway Forest Park nearby and its many walks and cycle rides, this is a great location to use as a base for touring.
