  • "Lovely 3 floor house right at the front of Pittenweem harbour."

Just about every appliance and consumable was available. We had the roadworks outside, which meant the house was loud and rather worryingly vibrating from Monday to Thursday - we left a day early due to it. But I think they are finished by early April. Made parking hard and my new car got a dent from someone who didn't leave details. It's a dead end street but has a fish market and lots of vans. Bottom shelf of fridge missing so was tricky storing milk, but we just balance the bottles in the veg basket. Lounge sofas which were very low and uncomfortable despite lots of cushions, and it was tricky getting the gas fire working. The beds were great though, as was the lovely clean linen and bedding. Loads of pillows! Showers were great and overall lovely clean place to stay. We would definitely go back. Hope this was constructive, and only pointing out things that could make this place a 5*. :-)

  • "Excellent property."

Clean, comfortable and spacious. Only downside is beyond the owner’s control in that there are currently (February 2024) works going on immediately outside the property. This means noise from early morning. Parking still ok (down the road or up the hill) but loading/unloading was a little trickier than it would normally be. That aside, this is a very good property which made an excellent base for exploring the area.

We easily prepared meals for the family in the well appointed kitchen. It was wonderful having a washer AND dryer. I would suggest providing an oven mitt for the kitchen.

Excellent location overlooking the fishing boats in the harbour and close to all requisite amenities - shop, bars/restaurants, cafes and a self service petrol station. We thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and space of the house and would highly recommend booking. Please be aware that the fridge in the property is small for a house that sleeps 8 people, and limit your food shopping to two or three days at any one time. The beds are comfortable for those who feel the need to engage in "bedgate", modern and in good order as are the bathrooms. Go and enjoy !

I have carefully looked over the description of the property and nowhere does it say there is an enclosed garden. Sorry that you were disappointed about that. About the location

PITTENWEEM

Anstruther 1 mile; St Andrews 11 miles.

The village of Pittenweem is one of the busiest fishing ports along the East Neuk of Fife and, as such, is a popular attraction for tourists. There is a pub by the delightful harbour, which is surrounded by restored traditional buildings, all adding to its charm. The village name means ‘place of the cave’ and is believed to refer to the cave St Fillan used as a chapel in the 8th century, and where he is reputed to have prepared his sermons by the glow of his arm. The cave is open to the public and sits in Cove Wynd, in the village. The present day Church of Scotland, or The Kirk, sits on the site of the former Pittenweem Priory, an Augustinian Priory dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, the village is popular with tourists and hosts the Pittenweem Arts Festival each August, an event that has grown in size over the years. The East Neuk Festival is another arts festival that also encompasses many of the villages in the area. The village centre sits a few streets back from the shore and boasts a shop, bakers, a Post Office and a café, plus several bars and galleries. From Anstruther, one mile away, take a day trip out into the Firth of Forth and visit the Isle of May, a National Nature Reserve, or visit one of the other attractive coastal villages in this corner of Fife. With St Andrews and Edinburgh easily accessible, there is so much for the visitor to enjoy.
