  • "Ragleighs was probably the best holiday home that we have ever rented."

It was very well equipped, was very spacious (accommodating all fourteen of us very easily), and very tastefully furnished and decorated. Everything looked as new when we arrived! And finally, it was very conveniently located directly above Daymer Bay Beach and a very short drive to Polzeath Beach. So, 11 out of 10 for the house. Now for the not so good bit. On Saturday (our third day) we noticed that the shower room and the bathroom on the ground floor were not draining properly so I called the Agents on Saturday afternoon and was told that someone would come on Saturday to investigate. On Sunday a man turned up and ‘plunged’ the bathroom waste. He didn’t look under the manhole cover in the decking directly outside the bathroom window.. A day or two later we noticed that bathroom still wasn’t draining properly and, as I had just had an email from the Agents informing me that the case had been resolved and closed I replied by email saying that things still weren’t draining properly and that they should send a plumber/drain specialist back. Nobody turned up. On Wednesday morning the next door neighbour arrived and said that he thought there was a problem with one of the cess pits and, having checked his, he thought that Ragleigh’s cess pit was probably full as it was overflowing dirty water into his garden. He said he would call John Bray (the local Agents, not Sykes who I had booked through and who had informed me that the problem had been sorted) and ask them to get the cess pit emptied as quickly as possible, which was duly done by 2.20 pm on Wednesday afternoon. So, if the cess pit had been emptied before it filled up and started overflowing, or if the man who came on Sunday had bothered to lift the manhole cover we would have had a lot less trouble. Not really what we expect to have to deal with during a seven day holiday

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the property so much. However, we do apologise for the drainage and septic tank issues - these are checked on a routine basis throughout the season so they can be emptied. As such, we are really sorry that something went amiss on this occasion. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Ragleighs was wonderful - one of the nicest houses we have stayed in."

It slept all of us comfortably, there was lots of room for all the different age groups to play and the kitchen and dining area were perfect. You have literally thought of everything- and we couldn't have been happier. I also wanted to congratulate you on making everything fabulous without it ever feeling that you couldn't snug up on the sofa and totally relax, and the wooden floors everywhere downstairs make it very easy to sweep up all the sand that inevitably comes in after playing on Daymer! The garden and outside sitting area are great too - really, no complaints. We'd like to come again!

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely and in great condition."

The views and the closeness of the beach were incredible. We had an amazing stay, thank you. It would have been useful to have some bin bags and washing up products but otherwise it was all great.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future! Regarding the washing up products and bin bags, our properties are of a self catering nature but our caretakers should leave out some of these to get you started. • "What an amazing home, and I say home cause that's exactly how it made us feel."

We have a large family and it was fantastic to be under one roof. It was our daughters wedding at St Endoc church and it was the top floor made a stunning place for her and the bridesmaids to get ready, over looking the church and Daymer bay. We did have to contact John Bray through our stay but the issue was dealt with extremely quickly and efficiently, so thank you. We are playing our next stay with all our family. Highly recommend this property for location, cleanliness, facilities and homely feel.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Ragleighs. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Ragleighs was the perfect house for our family reunion of three generations."

Where do I start ? From the moment of opening the front door and that great hall space to wandering through all the rooms the word was “wow”. The huge dinning table which all 13 of us comfortably sat around and the outside terrace table which when the sun came out we also enjoyed - perfect. We so enjoyed the upstairs sitting room with good view and cosy fire (no screen!) for mastering a challenging jigsaw and Chess over a coffee or something stronger during stormy weather! I could go on and on …. be assured you will be delighted if you book Ragleighs for a holiday near Daymer Bay/ Rock/Polzeath which are all within walking distance. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent stay at Ragleighs, we are delighted to hear that you loved the property and we do hope to welcome you back to North Cornwall again soon. John Brays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

  • "The beds were all very comfortable."

Instructions for heating would have been really useful. Great outdoor space, sitting room - large table especially. V easy, warm fire. For us, a great location & one we know very well. A few bin bags would be good under kitchen sink - I brought a couple of my own. Instructions said rubbish collected on last day of stay but they came penultimate day - not a problem though. Overall, a fabulous family house for a large group / 2 families.

However, due to the impact of covid the owners have been unable to provide hampers this year. They do plan to reinstate the supply ready for next year. Property Owner

  • "We would like to thank you for the excellent property and service, everything was fantastic."

We booked this property for our daughters wedding at St Enodocs, it met every criteria and more. We would say to future guests considering the same that it was ideal. The top floor made a lovely bridal suite after the wedding night where they could wake up to the view of the church and bay.

These additions to our usual experience made a huge difference - as did the inclusion of bath towels. Thank you so much

The property

Ragleighs is an impressive, detached holiday home set within walking distance of Daymer Bay, across the prestigious St Enodoc golf course.

As attractive on the outside, as it is within, Ragleighs has plenty of space to sleep up to fourteen guests, ideal for large families or group celebrations in Cornwall.

The lovely garden and sun terrace enables guests to always find a seat in the sunshine or a shady spot to suit all preferences, whilst on a chilly, winters day, the house is equally perfect with plush armchairs and squidgy sofas to lounge upon, with plenty of logs to keep the fire flickering.

Views from the house extend over the Camel Estuary, towards the beach at Tregirls, on Padstow's side of the river, making Ragleighs a tranquil base to retire to after a day of exploring.

Guests who claim the second-floor bedroom can truly appreciate the vistas from the comfort of their own super-king-size bed, whilst there is a king-size bedroom, and four twin bedrooms on offer, with an additional bedroom/TV room with two sofa beds, suitable for any extra children.

The kitchen is more than adequate to cater for a large family with a capacious gas range cooker, breakfast bar and a good-sized dining table, where you can gather, dine, and host, before looking beyond your abode for entertainment.

The property lies between Rock and Polzeath, and although they are so close, the calm waters of the estuary are very different from the wilder waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Dramatic cliff tops and surf-able waves dominate Polzeath, while sailing, waterskiing, and yachting can be enjoyed just a car journey away.

The sandy bay and calm seashore of Daymer Bay provides another wonderful contrast, set between the two and just a stroll away from Ragleighs; the smooth steep slope of Brea Hill is well worth the climb to admire the awe-inspiring view.

With Padstow accessible via ferry or foot, find plenty to see and do in the coastal town, with Padstow Museum, National Lobster Hatchery, and Padstow Sealife Safari trips recommended to discover, before sampling the daily catch from a waterside eatery.

Gather your loved ones at Ragleighs.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £400.

About the location

DAYMER BAY

Polzeath 1.3 miles; Rock 2.3 miles.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders, with the gentle waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. At low tide you can walk across the sand to the village of Rock to indulge in a spot of retail therapy or a bite to eat at one of the many delicious eateries, or catch the short ferry ride and explore the delights of Padstow. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.

Bedroom 6/ TV room has both a single sofabed and a small double sofabed - linen provided in the cupboard
