  • "Wonderful property in a fantastic location."

Great sized living room that easily accommodated all 10 of us. Good sized kitchen/diner with plenty of crockery and cooking equipment. Bedrooms were all very generous in size and beds themselves comfy. Small criticisms really but 1) upstairs rooms need curtains. Although eye masks provided, comfort would be higher with actual curtains to block out the light. 2) Bed sheets - using kingsized sheets over 2 twin beds pushed together meant they didn't stay on. Would be better with single sheets. Very close to the wonderful Anstey Cove and Meadfoot Beach. Lovely parade of shops at the end of the road including a deli and co-op, 2 nice restaurants and a good family friendly local pub. Highly recommend. Would certainly go back.

The cottage was loverly, the steps leading up to the cottage was slippy due to algae and moss, could do with a jet wash, large bottom floor bedroom had a funny smell, carpets had an odour smell could do with laminate flooring fitted in place,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am sorry you found the steps slippy, unfortunately Devon and Cornwall had a hose pipe ban and step could not be addressed. We are please you found the cottage to be lovely and hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "Just come back from a two week stay at Sylvan Scene."

The house is beautiful. There is everything you need and more. The kitchen is stocked with everything there is ample crockery plates pans utensils and more. The house was spotless. Just a few items to suggest to the owner, there should be a handrail going up the steps outside especially for the elderly and children. There should be some sort of blinds up at the two upstairs bedroom windows. For the price you are paying there should also be a sky package. There was Netflix if you were clever enough to get it working. The tv in the kitchen kept breaking up so it was a waste of time. Would be great if the owner could get these things sorted. Would recommend it.

Fiona went above and beyond to make our children feel very special, even purchased a bed so we could take an extra child, the trip to feed the horses was amazing. So much to see and do within walking distance. The children and adults are already looking at dates so we can return. Thank you Fiona for making our holiday so special.

  • "We had a great weeks stay at Sylvan Scene."

We celebrated my husbands 50th Birthday with our kids and grandkids. Plenty of room me my husband and our family of 6 adults and 2 small children and 2 dogs. Beautifully decorated, lovely and clean and very comfortable. Very well equipped, lovely welcome basket with some amazing yummy cakes for everyone. We let our family have the upstairs with their small children, they did struggle with the windows having no blinds at them , they tried their best to block the early sun rises with various items. Garden could of done with some TLC , shrubs were a bit overgrown. Location is lovely, wood right next door that leads to Meadfoot Green which leads you down to Meadfoot Beach. We ate at The Kents pub which was a few minutes walk away, serves lovey food and Me and Mrs Jones deli for brunch which was lovely too, and Jun Jaow Thai for a takeaway.

  • "What a fantastic two weeks we had here!"

!! A lovely house, very spacious and well equipped! A great kitchen with lots of space and easy to cook, big table and comfy chairs to eat at and a TV on the wall. Lots of room in the lounge with a corner sofa, 2 seater and chair, open fire and TV. Lovely tiled family bathroom downstairs with a walk in shower and big bath. 2 big double bedrooms downstairs with 2 bigger bedrooms upstairs and a single bed with a cot bed in as well. There’s an additional en-suite bathroom with another shower as well as a single toilet in another room. Electric gate entrance at the front with just enough room to get 2 family saloon type cars in, any bigger and you’d be struggling to get them both in. Be warned though, access to the house is up 29 steps! Lovely big decking area on the front of the house with a 3 tier garden at the back with seats to sit out and a grassy bit at the top. Fully enclosed we were able to let our 2 dogs out without fear of them toddling off. At the front of the house there is access to a forest walk which was steep and muddy, but takes you down to an open green area and to a beach a little further. Also local shops, pubs and restaurants are a 5 min walk with Torquay centre 5 mins away in the car. A great base for exploring from here with lots to see and do in the area. We had some very mild and dry weather for November so we had a great time out and about. The owners couldn’t do enough for us, there was a welcome pack on arrival which was lovely and thoughtful along with a dog bed and water bowl. Can’t recommend this place enough, we will be back to stay again another time!

  • "This is a lovely house in good upkeep and very clean."

The welcome pack was lovely. Facility wise there is an additional toilet not listed in the description and you can park 2 cars behind the gate, a third might at a push be possible. The number of beds has been maximised, which does mean that things would be tight if fully used. For example one bedroom only has one set of sockets, used by bedside lamps and physically out of reach by the bed positioning. In practice you will probably find you will need to drive to all attractions ( Kent's Caverns a must visit exception), but are fairly close.

The weather wasn't particularly good for the first half of the week so didn't get the opportunity to take advantage of the outside dining area. The inside made up for it and the kitchen and facilities were excellent and we took advantage of the quality kitchen and dining area. We had a Tesco delivery on the first night so we stocked up for the week ahead. We used the Kents pub for takeouts - the burger was out of this world and the Sunday lunches were excellent. if I could win the lottery a certainly would be trying to buy this place ... a real gem :) The welcome pack was a lovely touch and a nice surprise, thanks, Fiona :)

It had everything we needed, the beds and lounge furniture were extremely comfortable and the kitchen really well equipped. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and in these challenging times that was essential, they had even provided masks and there was hand gel all around the house. The owners had very thoughtfully left us some beautiful locally produced cream cakes and a welcome basket, which we really appreciated. They also kept in contact with us during the week and offered helpful suggestions regarding the local area. We would thoroughly recommend this property to friends and family.

  • "The cottage was excellent, very clean and everything was so carefully thought out by the owners especially The coffee , Tea , milk and sugar along with cakes ,fruit , wine and a bread stick was all thought of by them on our arrival , which we thought was a lovely touch ."

The cottage was spotless when we arrived and it consisted of everything you would require for a week's stay. my only suggestion would be that curtains were considered for the two upper main bedrooms that have the double doors for privacy reasons along with the fact that the bright morning light does cause early rising. The small toilet upstairs could also benefit with a curtain or blind for privacy reasons again as you were able to see the upper level of the garden very clearly when people were up there so it does cause conern that those who are on the upper level can also see into the toilet ,so again for privacy reasons this would be a suggestion to be considered other than this the property was fantastic and we would consider returning as it was idealy located and an enjoyable stay in a very comfortable accomodation

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Sylvan Scene. Folding screens have now been added to the rooms you mention to provide additional privacy and the small toilet window now has a blind installed. Property Owner
