  • "We have just returned from a lovely stay at The Old Manor House."

We all could’ve quite easily have move in! Such a beautiful house, extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The beds were extremely comfortable, don’t think we’ve ever slept so well on holiday! The children enjoyed using the pool table and Xbox in the evening

  • "The property is claimed to be five -star."

For that we would expect 100% cotton bed linen, king size or larger double beds providing they fitted in the rooms, well fitted mattress protectors, suitable duvets for the time of year and bath sheets rather than just bath towels. There was one king sized double bed but with a double bed sheet (not king sized therefore too small) and oversized mattress protector. BUT, two king sized beds were stated on the description. All double beds could have been larger in the available space. The mattresses were all far too soft and the single beds had double duvets on them. For 5* we would not expect the cheapest possible linen, duvets, towels and over-soft mattresses. We would expect to be able to eat in the kitchen from the description, but although there was space there was neither table nor sufficient furniture provided. Cutlery was the cheapest possible quality and there were just 10 ordinary knifes and no serving spoons. In the formal dining-room the provision of place mats was poor: mismatched, no mats for serving dishes and only one coaster per person. It was very nice to have an area outside undercover, but there was inadequate sitting for all to sit down together. There was a pool table added to the lounge, which was nice, but it was too dark to actually use and it meant than we could NOT all sit down together in the same area. We were asked not to use the open fire, though it is clearly available in the description. Had the pool table been put in the other end of the room, we believe the furniture could have been arranged for ten to sit down together around the log-burning stove. Good things about the property were the property itself, its spaciousness, the garden and the amenities of the area. The bad things were the lack of thought for providing a comfortable stay for up to 10 people, in our case 6 adults and 3 children, being ourselves as the oldest generation our two daughters, their husband/partner and our three grandchildren and one short haired, clean well-behaved largish dog. Saying a property is pet friendly and then the pet can only go on less than 50% of the ground-floor seems unreasonable, and had we appreciated this we would not have booked this property. The carpets that we were asked to protect by restricting the dog to the hard surface area, were neither white, nor particularly clean, nor of a sufficient quality to be over zealously protected.

Thank you for your feedback. With regards to the beds. All beds are fitted with mixture of 200% and 400% thread count Egyptian cotton from John Lewis and the white company. There are two king size beds and Three double beds. One of the double beds can be split into 2 singles. I provide a house information email on booking and guest are welcome to provide me with their requirements prior to entering the property. All beds have mattress protectors 4 are fitted and one is a flat mattress protector. We have a range of mattress protectors so we can provide for quests requests. All beds have king size duvets and The double/2 single beds are laid out with 2 double duvets, providing a high level of comfort. If quests wish a thinner or smaller duvet we have those in our store and can cater to guests requests. 2 beds ( king size and a double ) have memory foam mattress and this provides, for those that like the rap around feel and the moulding to the body, providing a supportive, soft sleep. Based on you feedback I will identify which beds have memory foam mattress so that guest are able to choice and decide on their preference for room Each bed is laid out with 4-6 pillows and each guest has a bath towel and a hand towel. In addition to the 5 star requirement each bathroom has a large hand towel. In addition to the large dinning room with formal table for 10 persons, there is an informal dining table for 4 in the kitchen together with a kitchen island area seating 3 persons for food. The large kitchen cupboard contains : cutlery : knives , faulk, spoons, large plates, small side plates, bowel for 10 persons. Serving spoons are in the lower draw ( 4 sets metal, 3 wooden sets), further serving plates are in the lower right draw, above is the cheese board. Wine glasses, formal, plastic ( for outside), small glass for 10 persons are also provided. The large wooden dresser contains: serving plates and bowel and additional equipment, pots and white cups for tea and coffee plus egg cups and additional items. The kitchen corner unit provides for pots and pans and oven proof roasting dishes and glass bowels. There is further glasses and cups for 10 persons. The kitchen cabinet has draws of table cloths and In the formal dining-room the provision of place mats is in the beach cabinet, this has multiple place mats and mats for serving dishes. The large chest also has place mats in it. The new outside marque contains new sofas and table with cushioned stools for 9 persons. The are 3 further high stools and a new large open fir bar-b-que. In the front garden there is a large table and chairs for 8 persons and a further large table and chairs for 5 persons. There is a lovely wood table and sofa chair set with table for 4 persons ( this set can be move around easily by guests) The lounge is very large (10 meters by 6 meters) and at one end is 2 large sofas and table with tv at the other end is two large sofas and a pool table with additional seating. The lounge area caters for 13-15 people. There are 10 wall lights and 5 standing lights. At both ends of the lounge are large windows. The lounge benefits from a new 8 watt log burner and this can also be opened to become an open fire. The log burner and large historic chimney are commissioned and safe and easy to use. The fire provides a significant amount of heat in addition to the traditional central heating system. The lounge has a feature wall of logs and a further feature open fire place ( not for use). Th property is pet friendly and animals are able to be to roam freely in the gardens and in the kitchen and hallway. As the manor house is large this amounts to 93 square meters. The carpet in the lounge and the bedrooms and the hall stairs are 80% wool and are of high quality, they are cream and we regularly do a full professional carpet clean. Whilst we are dog friendly we do also wish to respect those that do not have dogs and may have allergies. The slate floors can be cleaned and steamed each change over and it is with this in mind that we feel 93 square meters of family space in the centre of the house, is adequate for a well behaved pet to interact with the family. • "The house is lovely with lots of space."

Our family party of 10 ranged from age nearly 2 to 70 and we were very comfortable. The reason we are only giving a 4 star is because the hot tub was not working for most of our week.we ere given a small refund in compensation but it was still s disappointment.

  • "The Old Manor House was lovey, comfortable and well equipped."

The gardens were fabulous with lots of different seating areas and the hot tub and pool table were brilliant. Dogs are only allowed in the kitchen and hall which was not explained in original listing. We got round this by using throws on the carpets and sofas with the agreement of the owner prior to arrival. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house."

We were met on arrival by Jeanette who gave us an insightful guide of things to do in and around the area. There’s plenty of walks around the local village and within a 30 minute drive there are beaches, castles and picturesque coastal villages to explore. There was Enough to entertain 3 lively boys, one dog and a very exhausted mum and dad. The hot tub was an added a bonus and got plenty of use. We will definitely be returning and would recommend.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this lovely house but the television and DVD player were a problem."

The lady who met us on arrival tried to assist us by messages but it would have been helpful to know that there was no terrestrial TV at the outset and programmes were only available via iplayers. There was no DVD player so films were only available on Netflix if you have a subscription which we don't. There was a game player but for the uninitiated we couldn't use it to play DVDs. The instructions left for the house were not up to date. We were also disappointed that there was an expectation to vacuum and clean floors at the end of the week. We did not feel that this was part of Covid rules and felt used. We did comply but this took away from our last day of the holiday.

Thank you very much for your comments. The property has an Netflix account which can be accessed using the netflix button on the remote. The tv also has freeview and ibbc , iitv etc. There are 2 dvd players that can be utilised for any of the 3 tv’s ( main lounge 52 inch, kitchen 30 inch and mezzanine 40 inch tv). There is broadband and all internet services. Further detail, if required are in the house information at the property Property Owner

  • "The Old Manor House was very clean, organised, peaceful, and large for a group of 10."

We all had sufficient space to enjoy the house and the gardens. Well maintained and thoughtfully decorated. Kitchen was well equipped. Heating and hot water worked very well. We were able to get the cleaner to do additional days during our stay which made it more relaxing and welcoming home to return to after a long day of activities.

Beginning with the homely sitting room, here you can feel the character of the property come out in full flow, with two fireplaces - one holding an open fire (for decoration only) and the other, a woodburning stove - and antique style furnishings beneath the exposed wooden beams, you will be hard pressed to find somewhere more inviting than here.
