  • "Overall the property was good, comfortable beds good quality appliances, plenty of seating, wonderful views, I appreciate they had had some heavy handed holiday makers before our stay, and did try to rectify damage caused where they could, however carpets throughout the hall and bedrooms downstairs are very dirty and stained and need a really good clean."

I appreciate they are fully booked but I would rather have clean damp carpets for 24 hours opposed to dirty carpets. The village is excellent a walk down a steep hill and you are on a dog friendly stony beach, there is a cafe pub and tapas bar in the village all serving great food and Seaton is a pleasant walk along the beach.

  • "Although the property was in a good location unfortunately attention to detail in cleanliness and maintenance was not as expected issues as follows Cupboard dirty and old food/wine left in cupboard, large cobweb in corner by telescope, dirty glasses and crockery, freezer with food stains, leaking gutter outside kitchen, hot tub noisy through the night, games table catches broken, pool table cloth and balls badly damaged, darts unusable, no ping pong balls provided, milk frother for coffee machine unusable due to not being clean and smell."

Black mould in en suite shower room and toilet seats in main bathroom very loose. Windows on the inside were filthy, bin outside full of maggots. The radiator in the lounge was held on by the settee and luckily we didnt need the central heating. Outside table also filthy. Whilst this is a large list we did enjoy our stay and found the other facilities such as beds, bed linen, size of house to be good.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Ocean View. It is disappointing to read this feedback and all points will be investigated. I would like to assure you and all guests that if the team and I were informed during your stay, we would have strived to ensure everything was put right, we do provide all our guests with the relevant contact information. I hope we can welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

The view was incredible, the house had everything we needed. The owners were very helpful when I had a couple of questions. The whole group was blown away by the house, I would absolutely recommend staying here and would love to go back!

  • "Suited our purpose very well, a good sized property for a large family spanning three generations."

There was always something to do as the games room provided great entertainment betweeen outings. The view is spectacular especially in good weather, we did a lot of boat spotting using the telescope and binoculars. The locals were very friendly, including the people in the shop in the village. It was quiet out of season which made accessibility straight forward.

We really enjoyed our stay. The views are incredible and the house is so comfortable and has everything you need. If you have mobility issues then perhaps not the house for you as there are a lot of steps.

great having the coffee machine and pool table was used every day due to weather being bad but we enjoyed our stay very much just a short walk down the hill to village and beach and great view to wake up to. The only thing because of bad weather it would of been great to have some sort of over head shelter at the back of the house to make best use when bad weather like there was at the front door. Wonderful stay thank you!

  • "We had an amazing stay, the property was just as we hoped."

The only slight negative would be how slippy the decking is when it rained. My son slipped over a couple of times walking to the games room. Not sure if that is something that can be improved. He was fine by the way! Other than that everything was great.

Thank you for your positive feedback and we are so pleased that you had an amazing stay and all worked well for your Christmas break. We were sorry to hear that your son slipped a couple of times on the decking and whilst we mention this in the welcome notes to highlight this we will display a notice. We will also reapply a treatment of non slip decking product. Property Owner

  • "Loved this property and would certainly recommend a stay here."

It's lovely and clean, well equipped and comfortable. There was plenty of room for all of us both indoors and the outside seating area, with great sea views. It was a great base to visit the surrounding area -with the benefit of coming back to relax in the hot tub or use the games room. Can't fault our stay at all.

  • "What an amazing place you have!"

! We were in love as soon as we walked into the lounge! And the coffee and bar area was my favourite room! We sent a video to friends and they were all in awe, thank you! You asked for suggestions and there were some items we had to buy so I thought you’d want to know for future guests.. Face cloths Dish cloths Potato peeler Also you could do with a sharp knife and some pans that are compatible with the hob. They said they were but we kept getting an error on the hob that made cooking difficult (pans not compatible or placed incorrectly) Short uses seemed fine but it was when the hob had been in use for a longer spell, ie for a larger meal. We ate in a lot as you can see but I guess many will who have a large group to feed x The rest of the house was so well equipped and we LOVED the coffee machine and mugs. I just heard there’s a feedback form sent too so I will fill this out also.

  • "All three generations had a wonderful stay."

The house is lovely; nicely decorated and clean, although some spots were missed (under the sofas and there was a broken plate in the cupboard). Easily big enough for the ten of us to have our own space too. Views were amazing we spent a lot of time watching the world go by from the dining room or in the hot tub, which was cleaned/checked at least twice during our week. We all enjoyed the games room too. Couldn’t fault this house one bit and the neighbours were very friendly. All that’s missing for us was a potato masher, pizza cutter and a Cafeteria. We couldn’t find the pods for the coffee machine, and although we didn't need them as it was warm enough, no logs were provided for the log burner. Would thoroughly recommend making Ocean View your south Cornish base.

  • "Wow, Oceanview is a dream holiday home, it is very clean, big and each bedroom is big, beds are very comfortable."

The owners have put a massive amount of time and effort to make sure that your holiday starts well. The view from inside looking out are spectacular, there is a wood burner and a fantastic games room. Definitely choose this home because you will not regret it. The beach is very close and you can enjoy exploring and hiking and dog's are allowed on the beach. When we returned from our visits around Cornwall we always looked forward to coming back home to chill and jump into the Hot Tub. The garden is big enough for you children and/or dog's to play around in. There is a parking space available. Oceanview is massive and beautiful and you can relax and have a great time. I would recommend Oceanview to anyone.

  • "The cleaning was not top rate with crumbs and rubbish under sofa cushions."

Cigarette buts on the steps outside, black dog hair in sitting room. Mold around both. Broken step on way down to garden.

Hi Stewart Thank you for your feedback comments. We are sorry to hear that there were a few issues you weren’t happy with, and the cleaning items will be passed onto the cleaners and addressed as necessary. We are aware of the mould around the bath and can assure you that it is cleaned and bleached every stay, but the mould is ingrained and requires more detailed works. This is listed for routine maintenance in February when we will renew the mastic. We were unaware of the step that you mention but this will also be added to our February maintenance program. We hope that the few issues you have raised didn’t impact too much on your stay at Ocean View and that you enjoyed your time in Downderry. Property Owner

It was very comfortable… the only thing to mention is that the local shop only opens for a couple hours a day with limited products so everything you need is best ordered beforehand. If getting there by public transport then buses and hard to catch and taxis take a while to get through to. Other than that we had a perfect stay, many thanks for our lovely get away.

  • "We were so impressed with the property it was above and beyond beautiful however our experience was unfortunately marred by the fact that the hot tub wasn't maintained during our stay - apparently the cleaner was away."

we were unable to use it for the last 2 days of our stay as it smelt and 3 of our party ended up with skin infections on our return which I feel can't be purely a coincidence. Such a shame as everything else was absolutely perfect .

Hi Rebecca Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the house, however we are very disappointed to learn of the trouble you experienced with the hot tub, and we are sorry for this. Without our guests letting us know about problems like this we would be unaware of them.
