  • "Just spent a lovely week at G!"

An Nug cottage. The cottage is by the main road but this didn't bother us at all, though if you've got all the windows open then the traffic can be quite noisy. Cottage lovely and spacious, plenty of room for us all. Love!y space outside looking over the stream and fields. We found the kitchen well equipped and had everything we needed. Good location for visiting north Wales and Snowdonia. It would have been nice to have a welcome pack on our arrival. Other cottages we have stayed in left some milk, tea bags and a cake etc, and a folder with local information. There is a!so no books, games or DVD's in the cottage. But we enjoyed staying in the cottage and I would return again.

  • "A great location for our trip to zipworld with some nice walks once off the main road and a really nice local pub, house was great for 3 families sharing and beds comfy with unlimited wood for the burner."

The kitchen could have been cleaner and the burner cleaned out, the tv in the 2nd lounge did not work and the bathrooms could do with updating, one shower leaked, one too hot or freezing cold. We didn`t appreciate the email from Sykes the first morning we got up about all the rules for checking out (only there 2 nights) maybe this would be better in advance for such short breaks? and didn`t feel all the tasks were for us when we have to be out early e.g. empty bins, strip the beds etc....

Dear mrs Katy Thank you for your comments but would have appreciated knowing about any problems while you were at the property . As I do the cleaning I would like to know what was not clean in the kitchen ? It’s impossible to clean out the wood burner when I leave a fire in for your arrival ! I don’t watch TV during changeovers , so unless I’m made aware of a problem I simply cannot solve it ! One shower door is quite tight so I will look into trying another type of seal . I will test the showers after the next guests leave, again it’s a shame I was not aware of this problem ! I have tried to cover all the points that were aimed at me, but consider your score of the property to be very insulting !!! Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed staying at the property."

It had the exact requirements of bedrooms that we needed. Everything was clean and the kitchen was very well kitted out....we cooked there most evenings. We also used the BBQ area one evening for a family birthday which was perfect. Surrounding area beautiful to explore....we climbed Snowdon, visited Betsy!! Bedgelert- walked hills, forest and river walk, Bala town and the railway, Conwy and Swallow Falls and visited Menai and Beaumaris in Anglesey...all totally stunning. The Internet cut out 2 days into our stay...the reason we awarded 4 stars was because it would have been good to have better communication from the owner explaining what was happening. We found out by texting him to ask whether there was a fault and although we received a reply there was no update the rest of the week. Open Reach turned up at the house at 11.30 on our last morning....we would have been out at that time normally but happened to be there because one of our party was not well. The fault was not at the house. Thank you Bryn for the use of your beautiful house for our family holiday.

A really good dining area/kitchen with all essential facilities and plenty of room to relax indoors and out. We loved the outside BarBQ area and had a couple of relaxing evenings enjoying the peace and quiet that this area gives you. We normally stay on the coast but took the chance to explore more of the area and were not disappointed. Llanberis and Betws Y Coed the highlights although my grandchildren will say the Zip Fforest was theirs. Still easy to get to Conwy and Llandudno as well so spoilt for choice for things to do. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again next year if possible.

  • "Good points - constant hot water, heated kitchen floor, good sized accommodation with good sized bedrooms and lounge."

Plenty of saucepans, baking trays, casserole dishes etc albeit a bit on the old side. bad points - house needed a good clean - lots of cobwebs in every room, utensils in kitchen drawers need updating - some were broken or just old. Plates and glasses were chipped. Pet hair on kitchen door mat. Patchy wifi connection. We did contact the owner about a couple of issues - broken toilet seat, TV not working and a smell coming from the outside drains and he did spend a day fixing them which we were grateful for. Y Giler pub was nice - good pub food but you need to book a table and order food 24 hours in advance. We visited Bala lake, Conwy falls. Llandudno and Betws y Coed - walked to Swallow Falls. This was the most expensive property we have ever stayed in and it wasn't as nice as I was expecting compared to other holiday properties we have stayed in previously.

  • "Glan Nug is a lovely cottage situated in a small hamlet about 8 miles from Betws-y-coed."

Although the cottage is on the main A5 this was not an issue as we hardly noticed traffic noise. There is a very nice pub just a 5 minute walk across the road. There was ample room inside the house for our large family and outside space with decking beside a babbling stream. There was plenty of room for parking, we had five cars between us. Key collection and return was easy and we all had a very enjoyable stay. If we were to have one small criticism it would be that the dishwasher needed salt and rinse aid to be able to use it. Overall, we would definitely stay again and recommend to others with large families. Mike & Madeline Dixon 28th May 2018

  • "We chose this accommodation for a family group as we were booked on the nearby Zipwire and this was the perfect location."

It was good having two sitting rooms so that those who wanted to watch TV could do so and others could read or play games in the second room. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was refreshing to have supplies such as cleaning materials (washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cleaning cloths and tea towels etc) available as many properties fail to provide these and it is then difficult to clear up properly following meals etc. The bedrooms all seemed freshly decorated and were of a good size and the ratio of en-suites/bathrooms was perfect. There was plenty of hot water too which was great. It was nice to have the outside seating area, particularly as we were lucky enough to have good weather and the bonus of a pub within walking distance. Parking was very good too - plenty of room for our vehicles. The only small recommendation I would make is that the two front bedrooms would benefit from black out blinds/curtains to help block out the headlights of passing cars on the main road.

  • "We had an absolutely wonderful time at Glan Nug."

The location was ideal for us to travel in all directions and visit tourist attractions in North Wales. The downsides were a) the cleanliness e.g. some of the saucepans and frying pans had dried up food on them, the washing up brush should have been put in the bin, the bath mat was covered with a lump of dark hair ......... it generally just wasn't very clean and b) things were very tired and could have done with replacing. Having said that we did have a lovely time and everyone we met was very friendly.

It was well equipped with plates, cutlery etc as we spent 3 nights here and decided to cook on a couple of occasions. Myself, partner, friends and family who stayed with us were very pleased with the cottage too. Even though the cottage was on the main A5 road we had no problems with noise just the occasional car going past which didn't bother us at all. We would all definitely return to the cottage for a weekend getaway maybe even next year :D Thank you to the owners of the cottage who put some birthday balloons and banners up for my partner as this was a nice surprise for him :)
