Location is good The property looks good on the outside nice garden plenty of outside parking Layout inside spacious , but is in need of a deep clean especially in the kitchen , fridge freezer was ok but needs replaced Dishes were filthy I had to bleach the cups and wash plates before use , the inside of cupboards were filthy Hob oven and tiles were disgusting, the sink was bad and I had to bleach it , blinds falling to bits in some of the rooms , kitchen cupboards are in need of attention , around bottoms of shower trays , inside of windows a frames need a good cleaning Had to buy a duvet cover for the upstairs en-suite room as the under side was all rough with the material balling I payed over £1000 for 7 days expected better , I don’t live with dirt at home so don’t want to live in conditions like Sallywood for a holiday There needs to be a governing body to inspect these properties as the level of hygiene is bad , Skye’s need to investigate the properties before they advertise as pictures are deceiving I have found the condition of properties I rent which is twice in the year have started to slip where cleanliness and overall maintenance is concerned Prices are ridiculously high for what you get

  • "We had a very comfortable stay."

Pictures don't do this house justice. We often book Donegal but have never stayed in this area. The host was very helpful even driving my husband to the nearest towns and showing him walks for the dogs. House has everything you need even down to milk in the fridge on arrival. Beds comfortable and garden secure for the dogs. There are also things to do with kids, if like us you get bad weather, there is soft play, bowling, cinema etc within half an hour.

  • "The house was amazing in size, location and landscape scenery."

The owner Mr Connolly was brilliant in showing us around the house when we arrived and telling us about the local area. Ballybofey is a lovely wee town for local shopping and food cuisine. The forest walk is worth a trip as the scenery through it is amazing. We really enjoyed our holiday here and would highly recommend Sallywood House!

  • "We had an amazing visit to Ireland."

Our holiday was perfected by Sallywood Cottage! It was our home away from home. Bedrooms and baths were clean and tidy. The kitchen and living room area was perfect for our mixed age crew of 9. If we had any issues Mr. Connolly replied and helped immediately. (Mostly on how to use the different appliances.) We loved the gorgeous view from the deck, and the laid back farmland and animals nearby. It really made our Ireland experience unforgettable. We will be back here!!

Very handy for the town and close to many attractions in Donegal. We are looking forward to staying again next Christmas.

About the location

BALLYBOFEY, COUNTY DONEGAL

Donegal Town 16 miles; Letterkenny 18 miles.

Located through Barnesmore Gap in the heart of County Donegal and resting on the banks of the River Finn, Ballybofey is often mentioned in the same breath as its ‘twin town,’ Stranorlar, with the two towns separated by a small bridge across the River Finn. The river is noted for its quality trout and salmon fishing with a number of other fisheries dotting the area. The town has much to offer with a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs, a theatre, an 18-hole golf course and regular traditional music and other nightlife in the evenings. Walkers will enjoy exploring the local woodlands or the shore walk around Lough Trusk, while the 47km-long Bluestack Way, which meanders through the mountains of the same name, is also accessible.

Note: This property has a minimum booking of 4 nights.
