Fantastic property, great location to the beach and town, we had everything we needed in the property for our stay, plenty of room for a big family, the welcome hamper was a really lovely touch, decor was a little tired in places (paint peeling away from the walls) but it certainly didn’t detract from the property at all

Hi Karen, Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad that you had a great stay at Friendship House. We very much welcome the comments regarding improvments that could be made to the house (the paint work that needs attention). This has been attended to this week. Thank you again for staying with us. We hope to welcome you back again soon. Kindest Regards, Property Owner

The house was in a great location in Whitby, very close to the centre. It was big enough for all of us and very comfortable. Everything we needed was available, very well equipped with lots of extras including a well stocked hamper and 3 parking spaces. The bedding, towels etc were good quality and the hot tub was a massive plus. The host was very responsive and positive. Highly recommended.

  • "Hi, thank you for a lovely stay at the house last weekend."

Lovely and warm, great location, very good value for money, bonus that it has 3 parking spaces, hot tub was fantastic - very clean and obviously new. My suggestions for improvement are minor e.g that the knives weren't very sharp and the potato peeler didn't work very well. The only other thing I would suggest is that you update the photos on the website. We were almost put off by the photos because they made it look very basic and we've tended to stay in quite luxurious places in the past. We actually decided on this one because it was cheaper than others. But when we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the place, so I think the photos don't really do it justice. best wishes, Rachel

Hi Rachel, Thank you for the great review and positive feedback. We really appreciate it. We will be replacing the items mentioned and we will look to update the photographs on Sykes website to better reflect what Friendship house has to offer as soon as we can. We are glad that you really enjoyed you’re stay, and hope to welcome you back again. Kindest regards, Sarah, Tam and Simon. Property Owner

  • "This is a great house in a top spot for exploring Whitby and the surrounding areas."

It is bright, clean and comfortable with good facilities and equipment to cater for large groups. Only downside was the tiny kitchen sink which made things tricky when trying to clean things too big or not suitable for the dishwasher. Hot tub is clean and well maintained and was a lovely extra to help create a relaxing holiday. Overall, I would recommend this as a very well placed and comfortable accommodation for a large party.

Hi Jane, Thank you for your fantastic review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and we really hope you visit again. The kitchen fitters are in this week, to replace the sink in order to improve our facilities. We are glad that you enjoyed your time in Whitby and our house. Many Thanks Tamanie, Sarah and Simon. • "The property was adequate for a week away, the kitchen was the biggest disappointment, the dishwasher hadn’t been emptied and was full of pots that had not cleaned, we removed the filter and I have a picture that I can share if requested it was covered in slime which explained why the pots were unclean."

The sink was far to small, especially when faced with the dishwasher full of pots that needed a thorough clean. The mattresses were not the most uncomfortable we have used but far from the best. The hot tub appeared clean when we arrived and there was the floating device with the chlorine tablets but there was also a loose tablet in the tub. The tub was checked which involved a new chlorine tablet being added but nothing else. Overall considering the money paid was a little disappointed.

Hi Adele, We are sorry that you did not have the best time at our property. Our cleaning standard is normally 90-100% so we apologise that the dishwasher had not been emptied. The mattresses are medium thickness as it’s the middle ground and it is difficult to judge what each family likes. We will look into them and see if any need replacing. Our email is located in the Welcome pack and if you had brought this to our attention, we could of amended some of the issues immediately, to make your stay more comfortable. We do hope you will stay again. Tamanie, Sarah and Simon Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay in Whitby for the week - the house provided us with everything we needed and more."

And the hot tub was a nice added extra. We were surprised to find a welcome hamper too which came with some fresh coffee, bottle of Prosecco, tea, biscuits etc. There was plenty of space for our large group and a secure courtyard out the back for the dogs & car too. The parking just round the corner came in useful and was enough for another 2 cars if needed. We had our toddler with us and the property came with a high chair included, along with bowls/plates/cutlery for kids which was a great touch! Close to the beach, town centre and good road links to elsewhere, it was the perfect base for our week long stay - we’ll definitely be back!

. everything we needed was in walking distance..the house was very well equipped and safe for a family stay. The caretaker was very helpful and easily contacted. Hot tub was lovely! We needed help to locate our parking … maybe a bit more info in the final e mail before our stay would have been useful…a map too perhaps … tricky to get large cars around the back of the property for unpacking and packing but we managed! The only downside in the house was the size of the kitchen sink…
