  • "Property was ideal for our needs."

Property was not as clean as expected, lots of dog hairs from previous customers throughout. Bedrooms very comfortable, lovely views of the river Fowey estuary. Welcome scones pack appreciated. Excellent property with plenty of room and warm and cosy. Good large parking area. Kitchen well equipped and modern. Microwave difficult to operate. Plenty of room and seating in lounge and dining room. Overall, an excellent property to stay in, although Polruan is a difficult place to reach with narrow roads, very isolated for touring Cornwall.

  • "Lovely house, we had a really enjoyable time."

Tom was very helpful when we had a minor issue (with a kitchen light) and came to sort it straight away. Highly recommended.

Thank you Charlotte, I am pleased you enjoyed Seascape, we try to please. Property Owner

  • "Seascape - the views are like watching a moving postcard!"

! The property is in a lovely position. Very peaceful location, high up, overlooking Polruan and across to Fowey. Amazing location to watch the 'comings and goings' on the water. Ideal location for a peaceful and relaxing break. Polruan has the essentials - small village shop, bakery, coffee shop, shop near the quay (which has the best ice cream), pub which serves food but also Fish & Chip takeaway. Although the walk is down a steep hill, if you take it slowly, its a lovely walk in the Cornish air. More shops across the river in Fowey via the foot ferry. Lots of lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy the sun and amazing sunsets - from the balcony, patio and garden. The property was clean and well maintained, comfortable beds, clean bedding and crisp white towels. Well stocked with toilet rolls, complimentary vanity sets and fantastic welcome hamper of lovely items. The property owner has given to thought to what is needed when away from home to save you taking them with you and provided a supply useful items such as bin bags, washing up liquid, cleaning items, cool bags, cool packs in the freezer - nice little touches!! Great communication from the Owner and Tom, the caretaker. We had a lovely stay - quiet and relaxing and fortunate to have sun for the whole of our stay. If I have to provide a negative - the stay of a week wasn't long enough!! Would recommend this property if you want to relax, take a leisurely walk and enjoy the scenery.

Thank you Tracy for your very informative feedback. I know some people at first sight wonder what there is to do in Polruan, but as you have said, once you get into the area there is much to occupy time and the ferry trips across to Fowey add a little to the experience. Very well written, thank you. Property Owner

Beautiful spot, great house with lots of spec, and space for 10 of us to chill out, could do with a bit more cleaning of windows and patio to remove "wildlife" inflicted stains

Thank you for your review, unfortunately it is difficult in a seaside town to keep up with the seagulls' contributions. I myself have experienced the patio being decorated even whilst putting the cleaning appliances away. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property at the top of the hill in Polruan."

Incredible views across the river towards Fowey. Every detail in the house carefully thought through for maximum comfort. The gentleman who was the contact for the property lives nearby, and was easy to contact and was very helpful. Highly recommended.

Thank you very much Fiona, I am pleased you enjoyed Seascape. Thank you very much for your recognition of Tom, he does try his best. Property Owner

  • "The house was fantastic, plenty of room for all."

The bedrooms were great, showers were lovely and the views are amazing. The kitchen has everything you need. It was mainly clean however it does need an overall clean as there were cobwebs indoors and stairs were dirty on arrival. The lawns had recently been mowed so It was hard to keep indoors clean as we kept walking grass in onto the tiled floors. The house echoes a lot so it’s difficult to sleep if others are noisy.

  • "The property is in an excellent location."

The house is well equipped and furnished. We had a couple of minor issues which were sorted out very quickly by Tom the caretaker. Our only observation is that the shower floors can be slippery when wet and would benefit from some sort of shower mat. Apart from this we would highly recommend the property

  • "Fantastic location and facilities with plenty of room and light for everyone to make the most of the outstanding views of Fowey and the estuary - and the sunsets."

Kitchen and bathrooms were wonderful with excellent provision and the hamper was generous and much appreciated. A shame that the behaviours of some previous holiday-makers had given cause for stern notices around the house (and legal responsibilities emphasised in the welcome book) which slightly diminished the feeling of friendliness and hospitality, but Tom and the gardener (and both next-door neighbours) were very friendly - as were the locals around the village - and the parking arrangements were a brilliant bonus for Polruan.

  • "We booked this property over the Christmas period and had a lovely week."

There were a few niggles with the property but as we did not bring these up with the owner at the time, I do not feel it is fair to bring these up at this point. In our naivety as it was Xmas week, we took it on ourselves to sort any problems we came across, and if there is one thing that this experience has taught us, is to never do that again! We were gutted to receive an email a couple of days later, on our return, in which our family was accused of damage to the property due to 'Utter negligence and carelessness' Never in our years of renting holiday homes have we come across such an unprofessional and outright rude set up and I can only advise anyone renting this property to take photos on your arrival in order to prevent this happening to anyone else. There is damage to the property as the owners make you aware of this in the welcome pack and looking back the way they expressed themselves in this note should have been a warning sign. Such a shame!

  • "This house really has the wow factor!"

Best place we’ve stayed in, and we’ve rented many holiday homes. The hamper and goodies in the fridge were very welcome. Only slight niggles were that we couldn’t adjust the heating and it was too warm also more importantly there wasn’t enough hot water. The dinner plates were too big for the dishwasher so had to hand wash them. We couldn’t find any information about recycling either. There weren’t any bath mats and no bath sheets but as I say these were minor points, the place was very well equipped and clean. Thank you.

Dear Mrs Laramy, thank you for your kind comments. As the house has large windows and the sun has been on them then the house will heat up. This can be limited by using the blinds or opening the velux roof windows which can be carried out electronically from the wall pad. You cannot adjust the heating if it is not on. The room stats show the room temperature as it is and not a temperature being called for from the heating. I do not know of any property with more hot water storage and has always proved more than adequate on all four houses which have the same system..The plates have always fitted when we have used the dishwasher although only on the lower tray. • "Wow..."

What a fabulous house! So spacious with spectacular views. The welcome hamper and toiletries were such a lovely touch. The kitchen was very well equipped. Unfortunately the weather wasnt great during our stay, which was a shame as we didnt get to use the outside space as much as we'd have liked. Just be aware there's a very steep hill to and from the ferry to Fowey and driving to the property the roads are very narrow but well worth the journey! We would have no hesitation in booking this property again, it was perfect for our first family holiday of 2021!

About the location

POLRUAN

Polperro 6.5 miles; Looe 10 miles; Lostwithiel 10 miles.

Polruan is a small fishing village situated on a steep hill on the Fowey estuary, made famous by the author Daphne du Maurier. It remains unspoilt and retains the atmosphere of an old boat building community and has a small beach. The Polruan chain tower known as Polruan Blockhouse is one of only five known to exist in England, and is a small structure built beside a river or harbour to house the mechanism for raising and lowering a defensive chain to prevent the passage of ships in times of danger. It and the chain tower on the opposite bank of the River Fowey are the earliest chain towers to have been constructed. The village has a Post Office, local store, gift shop and pubs. A five minute ferry ride will take you to Fowey, with a range of sophisticated shops and restaurants. In August, the Fowey Regatta is a fun-filled week of activities and events, including RNLI displays, a carnival, spectacular firework displays and a display of classic yachts.
