  • "House is well proportioned and equipped as well as being ideally placed for access to the Brecon Beacons / South Wales coastline and Mid Wales."

We were a group of 8 and always felt we had more than enough room. In addition there is plenty of parking around the house which made life a whole lot easier than some other properties we have stayed in. There were a couple of issues we can across unfortunately as stated in some of the other reviews a couple of the beds are not overly comfortable and realistically need new mattresses. Another problem we found were most of the bathroom doors and one of the bedrooms had a habit of sticking, the result was on a couple of occasions people got stuck in those rooms and had to be released. TBH the above would be pretty easy to fix with some minor maintenance. Lastly one issue we found was related to the baths, unfortunately a few weeks before the trip one of our party broke her hip. There are no dedicated showers and the baths are a little on the deep side with no grab handles, whilst fine for someone able bodied it was a little problematic for us.

  • "Really nice holiday house."

Two good sized bathrooms with baths. The only thing missing was a proper shower. Taking a shower in a bath is not common in The Netherlands.

  • "We have just returned from La Cala after a 7 night stay for a party of 8."

The location of the house is brilliant for walks in the Brecon Beacons and the size of the house is fantastic but could require some improvement. We felt with the size of the house the space could utilised alot more ie king size beds and bigger sofas. The beds felt old and very uncomfortable and could also use more neutral bedding. Just a few tweaks could really make this house amazing. A clothes airer would be a great help as it has an outdoor rotary line but you can't guarantee good weather in Wales so we were a bit stuck. A few bits in the kitchen felt a bit dated and could do with updating. The previous occupants hadn't put the bins out on time so we had almost a week of bin bags outside the driveway and every morning we had to tidy all the litter up in the street as the crows had pecked open the bin bags. All in all it was a pleasant stay but would only stay here again if it was updated and the space was utilised more. Great pub at the top of the hill though!

  • "The house was lovely and spacious."

Our only issues were, a couple of the beds were uncomfortable and you could feel the springs as well as hear them. Also the lack of a shower, there were 2 shower heads in the baths you can hold whilst washing, the issue was having to climb in and out of the bath wasn’t easy for some people. Great space as there was 9 of us. Still had a lovely holiday, thank you.

  • "We had a great stay."

think some parts of the property didn't look clean like the stairs and the fruitbowl; it took some.while.to get.hot water in the baths. The beds weren't very comfy especially the downstairs.bed.room. Kitchen was well stocked for utensils but the kettle.seemed a bit small.for many guests.

  • "We knew before we went that there were no overhead showers in either bathroom but it really did turn out to be very inconvenient and an overhead shower or shower cubicle would be more user friendly."

Part of the decking needs some attention as it was extremely slippery when it was damp/wet and an outside light at the back would be useful. Having said that it was extremely clean, very cosy and warm, (actually a little too warm at times for us) and the hot water was plentiful (though beware, scorching hot), very spacious, plenty of room and the main lounge/kitchen/dining area was comfortable. It's in an excellent location, especially for distillery tours, Brecon Beacons etc. We only used the main bedroom and one of the twin rooms but those beds were comfortable. Overall, recommended.

  • "Had a brilliant stay, plenty of room to spread about, everything you needed and owners kept in touch which was very helpful."

Would highly recommend we were a mixture of ages from OAP to 6 years and all loved it.

  • "A fantastic holiday home in a great location."

The house is large and spacious, so there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the property. It had all of the facilities that we needed and plenty of appliances and utensils for us to cook/clean etc. The owners kept in touch with us before, during and after our stay and were very pleasant. The drive into the Brecon Beacons from here was very nice and the property is situated in an ideal location to explore Cardiff/Swansea and the surrounding coastline too. I would highly recommend this.

  • "A lovely, very large property with lots of space for larger groups or two families sharing a holiday."

Open-plan kitchen / dining / sitting area made for very sociable evenings and was a great space to relax in. Plenty of sleeping options for us as a group of six single friends, and we ended up with the luxury of having a bedroom each, with the smaller lounge having a sofa bed. Pleasant sunny garden in which we enjoyed our morning cuppas, and evening drinks, although the decking does need some attention. We found the lack of a shower a bit frustrating as it took a long time in the evenings for all six of us to get bathed and ready to sit down to eat, it also felt like an awful waste of water to take a bath every evening.

  • "Lack of chairs throughout house, including in the living room."

3 of the dining chairs that were present, were broken! Poor kitchen equipment - eg a very small 2 x slice toaster, for 8 adults! Only one medium sized kettle. The light bulb above the cooker had blown, making life difficult. Generally, the lighting in the place needs attention - probably one third of the light bulbs had blown/didn't work.. Woefully inadequately sized fridge, and it had broken/missing shelves inside it. We had to ask for a quilt to be supplied for one of the beds, and also 3 extra towels were required. An accumulation of dust under the beds, etc. The venetian blinds throughout the house looked like they had not been cleaned in years. There was no bath mat in the en suite bathroom. Garden poorly maintained, the garden furniture well past their useful working life, and the decking around the back was rotting in places. This was advertised as a 'luxury cottage', and it probably was 10 years ago. It is no longer.

  • "Lovely cottage in relation to space & supplies such as crockery, cutlery etc."

Beds: some were comfortable but the double room downstairs & one of the twins had metal beds with thin, lumpy mattresses on them. Also small things such as nowhere to hang the towel in the downstairs toilet. Outside, the decking needs urgent attention with areas that have gone spongy & other places where the wood has raised making a trip hazard. The grass has been cut in places & then left on the ground. It just needs some TLC to bring it up to the 5 star standard it could be.
