  • "Just a shame that neither of the dishwashers worked."

Other than that the accommodation was great. I did suggest that a ground floor bedroom be changed into a lounge as we had two children with us & we weren't able to put the children to bed at the same time as stay in the annexe with the log burner. It also made it inconvenient to get drinks from the kitchen when we were in the annexe as it meant going outside.

Comfortable beds, super towels. House was beautifully decorated on arrival, and was really warm.

  • "We had a fantastic stay, the house was surprisingly bigger than it looked on the pictures, the annex was a fantastic addition to the garden area."

We hired a beautician for a pamper evening and she used the annex as a treatment room.. very cosy with the log fire and perfectly situated with access to the garden and hot tub afterwards. The garden is very private and not overlooked, and the wall patio heaters were fantastic once out of the hot tub and even for just sitting out with drinks on a cold evening. The social space was very good with the garden annex and kitchen dining area being well equipped with plenty of space for large groups. The quality of the furniture and furnishings was good and felt quite boutique in style. The house was in a very good location close to town, supermarkets and shops. There are bars and restaurants along with the markets, canal for boat trips and the castle all within walking distance. The property is owned by the hotel next door and they were fantastic at answering any questions before our stay. The communication and welcoming hamper full of essentials and goodies was a lovely gesture. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! And would recommend to any groups of friends Many thanks ☺️

  • "We found the house to be extremely well equipped with no shortage of crockery, glasses and cutlery."

There is also ample parking for 4+ cars which was ideal for our large group. The house was immaculate and once we’d found the switch for the induction hob ( Lauren on reception was very helpful as it was hidden in a cupboard!) we found all the kitchen appliances of a high standard. Having two fridges when the house accommodates so many people is very useful. The bedrooms were furnished to a good standard and the beds very comfortable. A small suggestion would be for a lamp in the kitchen/diner near the window as we found the overhead light very bright so bought some candles. The hot tub was toasty warm and the outside heaters made it accessible in mid October. This is a lovely property and in an ideal location to access all that Skipton and the surrounding area has to offer but is also so well equipped that during one’s stay it is very straightforward to be completely self sufficient.

  • "We booked Herriots House for a family weekend away and it was perfect for us."

Before our visit we found the staff were very helpful and accommodating, and quick to respond to queries. We were allowed an earlier check in and a welcome hamper was waiting for us when we arrived which was appreciated. The house is lovely and had everything we needed. The kitchen was really well-equipped, all of the rooms were clean and very comfortable and there was plenty of space both inside the house and outside for 11 of us. The hot tub was popular, too! The house is just a couple of minutes' walk from the Town Centre and it's right next to the canal so the location is ideal for exploring Skipton. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would definitely recommend Herriots House.

Excellent property and location unfortunately we had 2 bedrooms that rained in and the covered outside area leaked badly rendering unusable possibly through poor maintenance, but to be fair the management did their best to help

Thank you for your comments , and I can assure you that these issues have been resolved.. We did experience 48 mph winds during your stay along with persistent and heaving rain and flooding to the Skipton area making it impossible to immediately respond to the problem you experienced and the outside area did experience some damage due to these weather conditions. I am pleased to say we have now been able to address these things and the house is back to full working order. Property Owner

  • "The house is very well situated for exploring Skipton and surrounding areas."

Although it is on a busy road you’d never know once inside. There is a park just behind the house for children to let off steam and a canal path that takes you for a lovely 10 minute walk into Skipton centre. Perfect house for our party of 10, 6 adults and 4 children. When we arrived, we greeted warmly and there was a very generous welcome hamper. The fittings and furnishings were of a high standard and good sized bedrooms were all en suite with amazing showers. The spacious kitchen/dining room is very well equipped, had everything we needed, the two dishwashers were a particular bonus for a large party! The hot tub was great success even in November! The only downside is that the lounges are separate from the main house, which is difficult for those with young families and even for those without children, as you have to dash across the courtyard every time you want a drink or snack, especially as the covered walkway is blocked with outdoor furniture. However, the plus points outweigh this and we had a marvellous time and would recommend Herriot’s House to others.

  • "The house was everything we had hoped for in order for the family to celebrate a big birthday."

We were a party of 8 adults and 7 grandchildren (ages 18mths to 12yrs) and two dogs and we fitted in comfortably. The house was beautifully clean and spotless when we arrived with a lovely welcome hamper. The fittings and furnishings were of a high standard and the hot tub went down a storm. The house is well situated - walking distance to Skipton town centre, Aireville park for dogs and children to let off steam and a Morrisons opposite. The only negative points were firstly, we were encouraged to recycle but the bins were full to overflowing (we even took a bag home ourselves) and secondly, the shower in the rear ground floor bedroom leaked through the wall to the front ground floor bedroom. Both of these are easy to resolve.

  • "Super weekend at Herriotts House."

Facilities were everything you could wish for - home from home. However, it would have been nice to have a TV in the kitchen/dining area or a small living area in the main building. Had we had young children with us then probably the existing layout would have been perfect. This is only a general comment - it did not detract from the marvellous time we had - even good weather was provided! Thank you.

  • "We had a group of 12 stay at the house for a weekend and had an absolutely amazing time away!"

The hot tub and outdoor space were brilliant and we spent many hours in there. A very close walk to the high street which was very convenient. The facilities were brilliant, the kitchen had all the equipment we needed for a large meal in. We did have a cleaning issue which was rectified immediately by the hotel manager. Would have given a 5* rating without that.

  • "Great location."

Hot tub was not ready for use until Saturday morning so the children were very upset from 4pm Friday and all night, this was one of the main reasons the book this house. The team at the hotel brought 2 bottles of Prosecco but it didn't compensate for the children being upset, unhappy kids = unhappy parents. As checkout was 10am, we asked for a late checkout on Sunday and was told it was £50 for a 12 o'clock checkout and to go to the hotel to pay it on card, however when I opened the welcome letter it said checkout was 10:30am and late checkout was £20! Not very honest. This was actually given us for free because of the problems with the hot tub, they had to keep testing it which was interrupting our evening, although we appreciate their help, it shouldn't have been that way. The low down beds in the rooms were very uncomfortable, if advertised as a bed it should be a bed, not everyone was happy with that, especially when everyone paid the same money. There should be more realistic pictures showing the actual beds available on the site.

I was disappointed to read your review and I would like to address your comments specifically. Your party were given an early check – in, (2 hours ahead of time), as a gesture of good will, at no extra cost , so that you could decorate the dining area as you wished for a celebration. The hot tub was displaying a slightly elevated chlorine level and so we advised it not to be used immediately and to leave the lid off for it to aerate for a short while for good order . I have been assured that members of your party did in-fact use the hot tub on the Friday and it was not unavailable throughout that evening. The issue with the beds surprises me - The house contains 2 king size beds and 4 super king / split beds which to my count accommodates the 11 adults you booked. Thereafter there are extra beds / sofa beds which whilst capable of being used by adults are not offered as such. All beds shown on the website relate to the beds we offer as a house and are of a high quality and comfort. Your late check out was accommodated (and extended to 1pm) The normal charge for this is infact £100.00 for the house. The charge of £20.00 relates to rooms used individually in the house not for a complete house rental, - but I can see that you may have been given the wrong welcome letter accidentally since you arrived earlier then planned, and the house was still being prepared for you. The team are always happy to speak with guests and help them as much as possible to plan their stay. Whilst I would not ordinarily respond to reviews , on this occasion, given specific inaccuracies I have chosen to do so. Property Owner

We did run out of hot water when everyone showered in the morning. The lounge being separate is a bit strange but we hardly used it anyway. The dining area was great for gathering. Two fridges a plus. Skipton was lovely and having the park and canal right behind us was a real bonus. The bedrooms were lovely. The hot tub was great. There were 12 of us for a family wedding and we had a great time.

We had a weekend here in Jan 22. The house is beautiful, everything you could need for a weekends stay. Agree with other reviews that it can be a bit of an issue that the lounge is separate but the dining room is a lovely space for socialising and the lounge area is still useful at other times during your stay. Hot tub and outdoor area are perfect and imagine would be even better in summer. All en-suite bedrooms and a really good size which makes for extra comfort. Great park and canal just behind and easily walkable into Skipton town centre. Great stay, we will be back! Thank you

  • "We had a lovely week at Herriots House over the Christmas period."

The rooms were very comfortable and the fact that all the rooms were en suite worked really well for our party of 12. The showers and bathrooms were lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed, the two dishwashers and fridges / freezers were great over the Christmas period. The location was perfect, the House is very close to the supermarkets and Skipton town centre. The only downside was the lounge being slightly detached from the house, in the annex. We did use the lounge a lot, but it was more in the evening when the whole group went across to watch a film. Most of the time we sat around in the kitchen area. The walkway isn’t water proofed (even the bit with a plastic roof!) so we had to dash back and forth and a floor mat just inside the annex would have been really good to wipe our feet. To protect the floor a bit. The staff at the hotel were very helpful, we had a couple of small issues during our stay and they sorted them very quickly. I would recommend to other large parties wanting to spend time together.

Very convenient location to shops and quaint little town. House was spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and lovely double waterfall showers. The only negatives I have was the hot tub kept tripping all the electricity in the house and disturbing our relaxation ha ha, no biggy just a nuisance. Also the lounge was in a separate annex from the house not far but would have been nice to have a roomy main lounge in the house. Would definitely recommend this beautiful property.

  • "Hi. Stayed recently for a week with family."

Found the house to be quite comfortable apart from the position of the lounge, which we found we hardly used as you had to go outside and up stairs. So when you wanted a drink you had to do the journey back to the kitchen and back up again, so when it rained you got wet. Also we were unable to use the washing machine as the door to the cellar was off its hinges and couldn’t be opened. We were told it was going to be fixed the day after we arrived but this never happened !!!!.Bins hadn’t been emptied for us ( bathroom and kitchen). But as we were together as a family we enjoyed our stay in Skipton.
