  • "Had a fantastic stay here , everything you needed was there for you , very comfortable for a nice chilled weekend ."

. only one small issue with a wee step as you come from boot room , maybe a bit of tape to make you aware of it ..

  • "To start with the road down to lodge was very very bad masive holes everywhere when in side it wasn't very clean bedrooms on top floor had blue bottles flys and even under the mattresses on bed base had dead flys."

The kitchen was the only room for gatherings as drawing room was cold and absolutely smelt of smoke from the log burner, this was even before we lit it,when we did light it smoke would would enter the room therefore not being able to use as several of our guests are severe asthmatics, heating was very hard to work, after a call to the caretaker will finally got it on but radiators wasn't very hot, the main bedroom had no heating at all and was very cold.We had a power cut Christmas eve and yes I know these things happen but we had no candles or torches in the house therefore had to go out and buy some.We were looking for a hoover after no luck we contacted the caretaker again and was told it broke and they would get one out to us by the middle of the week only a small tv in kitchen area and no dvds for the children to watch, furniture was old and ripped and needs replacing ,wouldn't say it wasn't worth how much it cost. wouldn't recommend this property . Very unsatisfied with this property.

Thank you for the feedback. I will be checking under the mattresses, but inspected all the rooms prior to your stay and was not aware of any flies. The smell of smoke will be a result of not lighting the fire correctly. We do not use candles in the Lodge due to the fire risk, and as explained torches are normally located in the kitchen, but as you discovered had been removed by previous clients. We don't have a dvd player as there is full fibre for people to stream on the smart TV. I would like to feedback on the condition of the house when we came to clean it. We clearly state non smoking in the booking yet found cans filled with cigarette ash and butts in the bedrooms. As a self catered house you are expected to remove all your rubbish and food. It took an additional 6 bags of rubbish to remove waste food, bottles, cans and debris. This was on top of the 12 bags of rubbish that weren't sorted in respect to the local council requirements and just dumped in bins or left at the front door. It is a shame that neither parties lived up to expectations. Property Owner

The house was lovely and the garden was beautiful. The large kitchen/diner was very cosy with the Aga to warm it. We had to put the heating on for the other rooms though. Lounge was very comfortable and we enjoyed the log burner there. Everywhere was clean and fresh and we appreciated the wine and snacks that were provided. The location is absolutely stunning with great views all around the property. Our only complaint was that the shower in one of the ensuites wasn't usable, as the tray didn't drain.

  • "The house was good for what we wanted it for (big enough for 17 family members) but it is so over priced for what it is."

The people were very friendly and allowed us early access which was really appreciated but the place was minging. Obvious areas such as counters were clean but the place was overrun with flies both dead and alive and there were cobwebs everywhere, especially over the windows etc. The decor and furnishings are very tired with many items ripped and stained. The bathrooms were all very old (not fashioned as in quaint but really old power showers with varying water pressure etc). The whole place just needs a bit of TLC and in the mean time there’s no way it should be charging the price it is. I think were it less to hire we wouldn’t have had so many complaints but for that price you expect better.

  • "Cleanliness was poor."

Furniture had not been moved. Shower tray on top floor was blocked. There were dead flies and cobwebs in many rooms. When we wiped tables before use, they were dirty. Beds were clean. Nice large dining room and table.

  • "We loved this house, it was much better than we expected, the rooms were all lovely and clean with plenty of space and comfy beds and lots of bathrooms made our stay really pleasant."

We used the dining room a couple of times and it was brilliant to have such a large table and space for everyone to sit together. Lots of fridge and freezer space was great, and the kitchen is definitely the hub of the house. The outside area was great too, and we made use of the BBQ and outside seating area, the garden was nice and clean and tidy and the views over to the west were absolutely stunning in the evenings. My only points to feedback on are: 1. The bird poo, we loved watching the birds going in and out of their nests but there was a lot of bird poop on the windowsills and balcony. 2. Could do with some more space in the kitchen for storage, maybe consider moving all the big dishes from the tall cupboard into the welsh dresser leaving more space in the cupboards for food storage.

Spacious, warm and just what we needed! The Aga kept us all nice and cosy. The house was clean and we arrived to a beautiful welcome hamper which is a nice touch. We could really tell that the owner takes care of the place and thinks of the guests. Peaceful place with beautiful views. We had to be careful of the stairs as there is no banister on one side - this would have been a bigger issue if the kids were younger.

My friends and I booked the house to spend a week together with our families. There were 9 adults and 7 children. The house and gardens provided all the space and amenities we needed to enjoy our week together. The gas BBQ and fire pit were an added bonus and we enjoyed most evenings in the garden in the sunshine. The surrounding area also provided fun and entertainment for all ages. The space is great, much larger than we expected with 3 areas down stairs to all spread out, excellent dining room and all the bedrooms more than adequate. ! Heda, the caretaker was in touch right from the start and was there at the door to welcome us and give us all details. She was easy to get in touch during our stay and was very helpful. The Lodge is well stacked with all amenities for a big group and they are of a good standard. The rooms are big and sometimes need the additional heaters provided. The three public rooms downstairs are very warm and comfortable. The lodge could be better signposted from the road as there are so many accommodations with similar names and the Satnav stop in the middle of the road. Overall great value for money. Stepping out the door into the Perthshire countryside with views over to the mountain skyline and the farmland. I loved how rural it felt, and at night the lack of light pollution meant the stars were so visible it was possible to see the milky way, which is a first for me. That the house has a dedicated firepit surrounded by seating allowed us to stand around the open fire while we sampled some classic single malts. The house has stylings of a hunting lodge with the entrance hall splitting the rooms, to the left is the seated area leading to the main dining room. To the right is the kitchen / diner / tv room leading to the conservatory overlooking the stunning views and firepit. Bedrooms are all to a good standard, one double comes with a balcony that is on the room of the conservatory, another has the en-suite in the turret which is pretty cool. We were met by Heda, who gave us great advice on food, sights etc and made sure we knew our way around the facilities. All in all, we'd love to go back anytime

  • "Tulchan Lodge was fabulous."

The setting is beautiful, it was well equipped and the housekeeper was very attentive. For info, while we were there we had the piano tuned and repaired by a very accommodating and skilled piano tuner - it is not quite concert pitch but was sufficient for our musical needs. Some things to note - at 5.30 a.m. every day a very noisy farm vehicle (quad bike type) drove past - take earplugs (TL is next to a working farm, so some noise was to be expected) The kitchen is really (really!) hot because of the Aga Two of the beds needed attention, very noisy - we had to have our mattress (double bed in the balcony room) on the floor to make it bearable - someone had put some plasterboard (yes really!) under the mattress so there was clearly an awareness of this issue which should really be fixed. One of the single beds in the room next door to ours was also squeaky - it looked like someone had made these beds themselves using old iron frames which could explain why they weren't up to scratch The internal doors are presumably fire doors and very heavy. This meant they slammed a lot - some kind of slow closing mechanism would improve this Arrival time is 4pm not 3pm as it says on Sykes website - I had no reason to disbelieve the housekeeper when she told me she has told Sykes many times, yet they still publish 3pm arrival time. All in all we had a brilliant time despite the minor niggles noted above which I include to be helpful, and hope the house owner takes note and acts on this feedback, where appropriate. I would highly recommend TL, and the price was reasonable for the size of property which easily accommodated all of us.

The outdoor fire pit was the centre of our event. As such it Is the one area where comfort and utility improvements could be made. The house itself was very comfortable. The bedrooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The showers were extremely strong, more en suites would be helpful but we all managed just fine. Al in all, we had a great weekend and I would highly recommend this venue to others.

5 miles up a farm track, and had the most beautiful views of the hills and fields. The only noise that could be heard was that of the neighbouring livestock and birds. There was a party of 13 of us (11 adults and 2 children) and at no time did we will that we were on top of each other. The dinning room was fantastic for family meals and the hub of the home, the kitchen could again accommodate all of us very comfortably. It was also really important to have the 5 bathrooms, each provided with towels etc for showering. The house had some may aspects to it that I feel I cannot put into words. If you are looking for that ultimate get away from City life/Work/Mobile Phones and Technology well Tulchan Lodge is for you.

  • "We had a lovely holiday as an extended family group in this very comfortable house in a beautiful location."

A great deal of care had gone into preparing the house for our visit. The kitchen, lounge and dining areas were well appointed and the bedrooms were all spacious and restful. The only slight issues we had with the kitchen were that the normal oven seemed to be a little temperamental and the kitchen working surfaces were a bit limited for a large group - although, as I say, these were minor matters, and the oven was much less of a problem than it could have been because the aga was available, which made the kitchen very cosy and warmed the whole house. We took a dog and she had a wonderful time in the large, secure garden area. We also very much enjoyed using the fire pit (wood kindly provided). We would like to send a special thanks to Heda, who looks after the house, for going above and beyond the call of duty in providing a wonderful sea chest for Captain Mitchell, whose uniform is displayed in the dining room by means of a life-sized mannequin. The children in the party (and some of the adults too!) had lots of fun exploring the contents of the chest, which included games. activities and a log book for them to write about the Captain's adventures. An altogether memorable holiday - we would love to return to Tulchan Lodge at some point in the future.

Well furnished, sufficient towels, good bathrooms, enough seating and dining facilities to make cooking a full Christmas dinner possible. Would benefit from info on local walks. The road access to Lodge not as bad as expected though a few bags of gravel would deal with most deeper potholes. Lodge has no ground floor bedrooms so those with mobility problems have to climb stairs. The utility room has a step down which several people missed so signage required as it’s a trip hazard. We had 4 over 60 so this is a consideration when travelling together.

There was a beautiful comfortable lounge with no TV so everyone stayed in the kitchen which was heated by an Aga stove and the lounge was only used once. The dining room was huge but overhead lights did not work so it was never used The kitchen was where everyone assembled and was the only downstairs room that was operational. The tumble drier did not work and there was no outside washing line so any washing had to be dried in the over used kitchen. The bedrooms and bath/shower facilities were excellent, and staff were friendly and knew about broken tumble drier. We were out all day every day so we did not spend much time in the lodge. but would have wanted to use the lounge to relax and watch TV if we had been rained in. There was a lovely log fire in the lounge. These are minor disappointments, easily remedied that did not spoil our holiday and it only requires a few adjustments to make Tulcan Lodge a really excellent holiday cottage

The access road could only be described as a mud bath and in your description of the property there were many walks - due to the condition of the road it was almost impossible to walk from the house. Some of the glassware was cracked and had obviously not been inspected so much so that the water jug broke while it was being dried. The lodge was very clean and furnished with everything you might need including extra fridges and freezers to cater for a family party. The WiFi did drop frequently however in such a remote location it was actually a good thing when it did happen. The abundance of bathrooms was great and even with a full house there was no issues with hot water, there was also a huge bath for the kids! The parking was ample and the outdoor space was brilliant to walk around in, id love to be there in the summer to use the BBQ area! The master bedroom and adjacent bedrooms are directly above the kitchen and the noise did carry which was annoying, however apart from that the place was fantastic and a real shame to have to leave. About the location

CRIEFF

Gleneagles 10 miles; Perth 18 miles; Stirling 22 miles.

Sitting between Perth and Crianlarich, the popular tourist town of Crieff lies on the geological fault line where the Lowlands meet the Highlands. Originally a hub for cattle drovers between the 16th and 18th centuries, Crieff expanded due to its location and as a meeting place for the cattle business to meet the demands of an increasing Lowlands population. Due to the nature of these meetings or trysts, Crieff developed into a ‘frontier town’ with its reputation for punishment by hanging spreading throughout Europe, and the remains of the gallows can be seen in Perth Museum. Most of Crieff was burned down in 1716 by Highlanders returning demoralised from the Battle of Sheriffmuir and the current town layout was conceived by James Drummond, 3rd Duke of Perth in 1731. Indeed it was Drummond who prevented a further burning since he was a supporter of the Jacobite Rebellion. Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army stayed in the town in 1746 and held meetings in the Drummond Arms Inn in the town centre. Drummond Castle is close to Crieff and its spectacular gardens are open to the public. Today, Crieff is a popular and bustling tourist town with many attractions, including the Caithness Glass Visitor Centre and Glenturret Distillery with its Famous Grouse Experience. The leisure centre provides opportunity for swimming, squash and the gym, or head to Crieff Hydro for more activities or spa facilities. Explore the stunning scenery at Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, or enjoy a round of golf at Crieff Golf Club or the nine hole course at nearby Comrie. Loch Earn, home to the Lochearnhead Watersports Centre and stunning scenery, is easily reached from Crieff. An inspiring tourist destination set amidst stunning Perthshire scenery.
