Description

Salty House is an early 18th Century Grade II listed villa in the delightful village of Shaldon.

Accommodation is beautiful - the living room has French doors onto the garden with river views. Furnished with pretty blue and cream sofas and armchairs offering plenty of relaxing space for 8 people. A striking focal point of the of this stylish room is the open fireplace with large mantel mirror over. The contemporary kitchen has all the usual appliances and dining table and chairs. Just across the hall from the kitchen is the downstairs cloakroom with washing machine. Upstairs the four bedrooms are beautifully furnished with coordinating bedding in a neutral palette.

Outside the property has a lovely lawned garden with views over the river and across the Teignmouth. Planted with pretty shrubs and flowers, there’s a patio area with table and chairs - perfect for a little alfresco dining in the Devon sunshine.

 Salty House is just 10 minutes' walk from Shaldons Fore Street - stop off at The Coffee Rush and Shaldon Bakery, before trying a spot of crabbing.

Shaldon is a quaint little fishing village opposite Teignmouth at the mouth of the River Teign, it’s easy to hop on one of the regular ferries and explore further afield. The area is popular with walkers too with the South West Coastal Path offering some fabulous coastal strolls right on the doorstep. Follow one of the nature trails, do a spot of bird watching on the river or try your hand at one of the water sports on offer. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole golf course, the charming local conservation zoo is a must, as are the fabulous beaches and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens. Visit in August and join in the fun of the annual Shaldon Regatta, so be prepared to get swept up in the merriment! Children will love discovering the ancient smuggler's tunnel, the only way to access the famous Ness beach.

Guests are within a 20 minutes' drive of the lively attractions of Torquay and the surrounding area has many popular National Trust properties, beaches and coastal tourist attractions. Nearby Dartmoor also offers a dynamic day out for walking, mountain biking, wild swimming and extreme sports. It’s possible to arrive at Shaldon by public transport via Teignmouth with trains operating to Exeter, Plymouth and London and the ferry service from Teignmouth to Shaldon Beach.

Shaldon is very well connected, with road links, close proximity to Exeter Airport and easy access to the mainline train stations in Teignmouth and Newton Abbot.
