Description

The Property is a much loved and newly refurbished family home just over two miles from the coast and is a fabulous base for families and friends who are either holidaying together or who want to gather somewhere special for a celebratory few days; if you are looking for country house charm, you have found it. A former Victorian Rectory, the spaces within are generous and the grounds outside spacious, with plenty of places for all the generations to let off steam. A tennis court is marked up behind the yew hedge from June to September but also makes a great spot for a bit of cricket or football at other times of the year. The house has a slightly elevated setting, which showcases the beautiful surrounding views tucked under Norfolk’s famously big skies and you will experience some amazing sunsets here too. There are some pleasant walks directly from the house, one of which will take you to the nearby fishing lake in the village. With dogs welcome, the entire family can enjoy a great escape in this wonderful part of north Norfolk. Shop: 3 miles Pub: 0.5 miles

Bodham is a lovely north Norfolk village with a good pub and just a short drive from Norfolk’s diverse coastline, beaches and pretty villages that dot this part of the coast. For traditional seaside entertainment, head for Cromer with its iconic Pier, you can pick up the Norfolk Coastal path here and there are some great walks along the clifftops. Younger members of the family will be entertained at nearby Amazona Zoo and history buffs will enjoy time at the National Trust’s Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate, which often hosts family event days throughout the year. Also run by the National Trust, Sheringham Park has acres to wander and explore; come in late spring for the spectacular rhododendrons and azaleas that flower here. There are some lovely views down to the coast too and you might spot the steam railway running along the coast line, pick up a ride from either the popular seaside town of Sheringham or the elegant, Georgian town of Holt. Both towns are worth a visit, take in a bit of culture at the Sheringham Little Theatre and enjoy local cuisine at the numerous restaurants in the town. Holt is full of independent boutique shopping, art and antique galleries, café culture, has a great food hall and some great places to eat & drink from vintage tea rooms with pretty gardens to excellent burger bars and pubs. There is a great deal to explore in the area and it will no doubt become one of those places that you want to return to time and again.
