What a journey that was! Are we glad it’s over? Well, it was long overdue (having a new website, not how long it took to build) and I can’t quite believe we are there. We hope you like the new look. We hope you’ll find the information on booking a self catering property in Scotland a little easier to navigate. It should be far more user friendly than the one we have just moved into the cyber space equivalent of an old people’s home.
The function we think might help you the most is the interactive map on the property search page. Do have a play with it (the map I mean) it’s been kindly provided by Google and you can zoom in and zoom out and move it around as much as you like. Takes a little getting used to for the uninitiated, but once you’ve worked out how to use it, it really is a fantastic way of getting to know where the properties are in relation to nearest towns, transport networks etc.
We’ve tried to provide some useful information on the other aspects of taking a self catering holiday in Scotland, rather than just renting the property. If you are from the US or Canada it may be worth checking out our overseas guest page, or if you want to organise some fun activities have a look at our Activities page. Don’t really know Scotland very well? Not to worry, our Property Manager has burnt the midnight oil to write up a little bit about the main regions to get you started. He knows them well, having lived in Scotland all his merry life (I won’t divulge how many years that would be, but let’s say it’s been more than 40 less than 50)! Antony has even provided you with his very own list of Top 6 things to visit for each area, which I think was pretty good of him really.
There will be more functions rolled out over 2009. In the meantime however, features appearing within the next few weeks (amongst other things) will be:
- shortlist on the results page
- email a friend
- printer friendly property pages
- quotation form
- reserve a property form
Well, time to crack on and get some work done. We hope you like our new website. Please, please let us know if you find anything a little frustrating to use as we have tried to build it with YOU in mind. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Of course, we’re always up for a bit of feather stroking, so let us know what you like as well if you’ve the time or inclination!
Chris, our wonderfully scrumptious programmer from Tanist who has recently been burning the midnight oil labouring away to get a zillion and one things done before switchover, has a long long list of ‘things to complete post launch’ so we’ll keep tweaking, you keep peeking and over the next six months we’ll endeavour to make this the most user friendly, easy on the eye holiday accommodation website in the world! Well .. that’s a bit of a tall order, given our budgetary constraints – but no harm in aiming for the stars as they say!
PS. A million thanks to our wonderfully talented, ‘graphics guru by day marshall art black belt by night’, Russell from Graphique who also burned the midnight oil designing our new look!
