Ideal for weddings, weekends away or family holidays, this glorious holiday house in the Borders is such a comfortable luxurious retreat, you will not want to leave.

This elegant country house within its own 500 acre estate in the Scottish Borders, south of Edinburgh is a 5 star exclusive use venue and the perfect setting as a wedding venue. Catering for up to 40 people within the house or for any number above this within a marquee of your choosing, it is a flexible venue depending on your requirements. With a dedicated in-house wedding planner, the arrangements can be planned to your individual requirement and budget.

This large holiday house has a central feature of a grand sweeping pitch pine staircase, with all the reception rooms surrounding. The drawing room, with its large bay windows is an elegant room, with piano and open fire. The dining room is a striking room with bold wallpaper, with a table that seats up to 22 people. The country style kitchen is purpose built to cater for large numbers and is ideal for catering for a fine banquet or for everyone to gather in for coffee over breakfast. Other rooms include a TV room, an office, a delightful conservatory and a small games room with pool table.  The accommodation is on the floors above, with five luxurious en-suite bedrooms on the first floor and four further bedrooms on the second floor. Fully centrally heated throughout, the whole house exudes warmth and luxury. Within the grounds, there is a hot tub with sauna facilities. Additional accommodation in cottages on the estate for a further 15 people can also be arranged as extra. The layout of the grounds means that a marquee can be arranged if you wish a wedding or event, which is extra and requires to be discussed in advance. It is ideal for those looking for a top quality venue for a wedding in a beautiful setting. Bookings are made on a self-catering basis for the house through the agency, with any other payments for service and catering paid direct.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA

The Scottish Borders are known as the “Short Break” destination in Scotland and there are a host of activities to choose from. There are many challenging walks and mountain biking routes nearby with Craik Forest a speciality, as well a selection of places to go horse riding. For the golfer, there are many good upland courses, including Hawick and Melrose. For those who like fishing, there is the Teviot and the Tweed. There are many abbeys to visit at Melrose and Jedburgh, or you can take in a castle at Hermitage Castle. The centre of Edinburgh is 60 miles, with the attraction of shopping, culture, heritage and of course, Edinburgh Castle.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Edinburgh 64 miles away and hiring a car or 4WD couldn’t be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies situated within walking distance of the arrivals terminal at Edinburgh. If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland, the M74, although busy is generally free flowing. The closest station with car hire facilities available on site (or within short taxi/walking distance) would be Edinburgh-Waverley, approximately 60 miles from the property. This station is on the East Coast mainline and trains from London will take approximately four and a half hours.
