Built in 1752, this stunning country house, situated in 6 acres of private landscaped grounds, with spectacular rural views has been lovingly maintained and furbished providing high standard accommodation ideal for special occasions. Set in the far South Western corner of Scotland, the property is the perfect location for exploring the Borders region of Scotland.  Beautifully decorated and full of antique furniture this property has been lovingly maintained. The spacious modern and well equipped, country style kitchen, complete with Aga is perfect for preparing scrumptious evening meals which can be enjoyed in the quaintly furbished dining room, capable of seating all 16 guests. The large drawing room, alongside the cosy secondary sitting room, both with open fire are perfect for evening entertainment and relaxation. With one double bedroom en suite on the ground floor the remaining accommodation is situated on the first floor, providing sumptuous en suite retreats to retire to after a long day exploring. Additional accommodation is available on request for a further six people in a gate lodge within the grounds.

The rolling moorland, valleys and rugged coastline are a rambler’s delight, from golden beaches and fishing villages, to abbeys and stately homes, the Borders offers a diverse mixture of places to explore, this region has something for everyone. The mixture of urban and rural stretching from the suburbs of Glasgow to the beautiful coastal villages of the South in the area of Dumfries and Galloway is revitalising and refreshing. This unspoilt corner of South West Scotland offers relaxation and tranquility, from the deserted beaches where smugglers once roamed to the deep forest of Galloway Park

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Prestwick 72 miles away and Carlisle 45 miles away and hiring a car or 4WD couldn’t be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies that will provide car rental for your arrival at either Prestwick or Carlisle in advance.

If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland, the M74, although busy is generally free flowing.

Trains these days can also be an extremely accessible and pleasurable means of transport into Scotland for individuals and groups alike. All the major railway stations have car hire companies located in situ, enabling the transition from carriage to car to be as stress free as possible. The closest station to the property is Dumfries twelve miles away.
