With a colonial feel throughout, due to the original owner designing it based on his house in Jamaica, gives this seemingly traditional house a surprising Caribbean twist.

This magnificent Georgian townhouse, built in 1807, is situated in the centre of Melrose and is owned and run by the National Trust for Scotland. Situated within its own walled enclosure, the grounds are open to the public, whilst there is a private garden available to the rear of the house. Bookings can be for weekly rentals, weekends Friday – Monday or for mid-week options Monday – Friday.

Whilst there is an impressive flight of steps flanked by pillars to the front of the house, most access the house from the rear, where there is enclosed secure parking. Starting from upper ground level, there is the impressive drawing room with its fine cedar wood panelling, with open fire. Next door can be found the dining room, with main table that can seat 10 people, whilst additional numbers can be added with a further table. Additionally a kitchen and library/TV room are situated on this floor. The accommodation can be found on the two floors above. With secure parking for up to 4 cars to the rear of the house, there is also a private garden available to the residents for those wishing a more private space. The main gardens are generally open to the public from April to November each year and are a beautiful asset to the house.
