Get a taste of Victorian grandeur in comfortable style at this holiday house, set amongst sea and mountain, with wonderful panoramic views in any weather.

With breathtaking scenery, this large Victorian house situated at Ardgour within its own 40,000 acre estate, has stunning views overlooking Loch Linnhe. Built in 1859, the Victorian feel and charm of the house is still evident today.

Please note all self-catering bookings include full housekeeping and the services of a professional cook, whilst food is charged at cost (with consultation with the cook regarding your requirements).

Accessed just off the shore road, it is a short drive up to the house. With a large reception hall with roman style pillars and a feature staircase, there is an air of grandeur from the outset. The main drawing room with open fire is a grand room with fine pictures and comfortable chairs, whilst there is a secondary sitting room for a more informal gathering. The dining room is an elegant room, but the room that catches the eye is the large billiard room with full size snooker table. A further games room with table tennis table is also available for use. The accommodation can be found on the two floors above and comprise of eight well appointed bedrooms en-suite on the first floor for 14 adults, with additional rooms available for 4 more children on the floor above. The house is set-up for a maximum of 14 adults and 4 children. The grounds include a pitch and putt area in summer months, wonderful gardens and a summer house. Some stocked brown trout ponds are available for fishing as part of the let, with additional fishing available as extra. The estate also offers as extra activities including stalking, clay pigeon shooting (guns not provided), mountain biking, walking and wildlife watching. This house is ideal for a family holiday, an activity based group and for those wishing to explore the West coast of Scotland.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA
The Lochaber area is known as the “outdoor capital of the Highlands”, due to the geography of this region and has become a huge hit for mountain bikers, climbers, canoeists and walkers. The Nevis Range Mountain resort is a year round experience and has ski and snowboarding, high wire experiences, forest walks, mountain climbing, mountain biking tracks, family cycling tracks, and paragliding. In fact everything a family could choose from on holiday. Fort William itself, has many shops and restaurants, as well as the Ben Nevis Distillery and for golfers there is an excellent 18-hole golf course. The area is also rich in historical sites, with the Commando Monument, Glenfinnan and Arisaig nearby.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Inverness 77 miles away and hiring a car or 4WD couldn’t be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies within walking distance of the arrivals terminal at Inverness airport.

If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland, the M74, although busy is generally free flowing.

Trains these days can also be an extremely accessible and pleasurable means of transport into Scotland for individuals and groups alike. All the major railway stations have car hire companies located in situ, enabling the transition from carriage to car to be as stress free as possible. The sleeper train can be caught from London to Fort William, the closest train station to the property, which takes approximately twelve and a half hours and car hire can be easily arranged for your arrival, requiring only a short drive for the remainder of your journey.
