Skara Brae, Maes Howe, Scapa Flow, the Churchill Barriers, the Italian Chapel, the ring of Brodgar, the tomb of the eagles – all these iconic places on Orkney can be visited from here.

This is a unique south facing holiday house, formerly a 19th century inn, which offers self-catering on the Island of Orkney. Full of character and charm, with great views overlooking Scapa Flow, it is situated centrally on the island allowing easy access to all the wonderful historic sites of interest.

Rustic in manner and traditionally decorated throughout, this property offers value for money. The main living space is the former lounge with bar, which now operates as the hub of the house, with comfortable seating, a breakfasting area and with (un-stocked) bar still in place. There is plenty of space for all your guests to gather to plan the day ahead or to relax in the evening. Next door is the dining room, with wood-burning stove, with dining table that can seat up to 12 adults. The kitchen is a catering kitchen, which is an ideal set-up for cooking in style for your group. Additional rooms include a games room with pool table and a reception hall with TV. The accommodation consists of two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and a single bedroom on the ground floor, with a further twin bedroom on the first floor in the former bothy section of the house. These bedrooms have access to two bathrooms and a shower room all based on the ground floor. Outside, there is a designated BBQ area to the side, a small garden area to the front and parking for up to four cars. To the rear, there is a separate dwelling where the housekeeper lives, whilst the house is surrounded by open fields on all sides, with a panoramic view over Scapa Flow to the front. This is an ideal base for divers, a family holiday or for those wishing to tour the many historic sites that only Orkney can provide – giving an unforgettable experience.
