Looking out of any of the four front facing bedroom windows you will gaze upon views of a picture postcard scene of a loch with mountains beyond, the very image of Scotland.

In a spectacular setting on a 34,000 acre estate, this is a distinctive granite lodge, which was built in 1995, in the style of a traditional estate lodge, complete with extravagant turret. Overlooking Loch Ericht with stunning mountain scenery beyond, it is easily accessible, being less than a mile from Dalwhinnie.

Throughout it is beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard, brimming with antiques and period pictures, with Edwardian era charm, but with the comforts of modern day living. The main elegant drawing room with open fire, the secondary sitting room, the delightful dining room and the country kitchen – all have stunning loch views. As do each of the four deluxe bedrooms, which are located on the two floors above. This is a holiday house that you can come back to after a long day on the road sightseeing, sit back and relax with drink in hand, and enjoy the best view of the day! With full central heating, no matter the weather, there is always a warm welcome. There is private enclosed parking to the rear of the house, with secure entry gates to get access onto this private estate road. Fishing for wild brown trout from the bank of the loch is included within the rental during the trout season.

Use of a car is essential, and as this is a private estate road, in winter months, whilst the road is kept clear, it can be “white” and 4WD vehicles may be more appropriate for the driving conditions.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Inverness, which is 64 miles away, with Edinburgh airport being 93 miles away, and hiring a car or 4WD could not be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies situated within walking distance of the arrivals terminals.

If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland is the A74/M74, which although busy is generally free flowing. This in turn leads onto the M73 and then the M80, north of Glasgow, which leads to Stirling and the M9/A9 beyond. An average journey from north of the Glasgow bypass to this property is likely to take approximately two hour and a half hours to three hours.

The closest train station with car hire facilities available on site (or within short taxi/walking distance) would be Perth, 53 miles from the property. The nearest train station is Dalwhinnie, which is just over 1 mile away, which forms part of the mainline service that runs between London and Inverness, and includes the sleeper service. Trains from London terminals to Dalwhinnie take approximately seven hours.
