Set on a large Highland estate, this modern, purpose built lodge boasts stunning views across the river Dee and offers a luxurious retreat in the perfect location for exploring this untamed wilderness. With a mountainous backdrop, this beautifully furbished property is popular with outdoor enthusiasts, from anglers to keen ramblers. Bookings can be for weekly rentals, weekends Friday – Monday or for mid-week options Monday – Friday.

Although recently built, this modern lodge retains many traditional features, providing unique style and charm. The luxuriously decorated drawing room offers the perfect place for evening entertainment with a large open fire. The kitchen is well suited to preparing evening feasts which can be enjoyed in the wood panelled dining room. The elegantly furbished bedrooms are warm and comfortable, all with en suite facilities. All the rooms are at ground level, making this more suitable for the less mobile. It can be booked separately for up to 8 people or combined with the nearby lodge to accommodate up to 18 people for a larger house party. It is ideal for family holidays for those wishing to enjoy the rugged beauty of the mountains.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA

Royal Deeside is famous around the world as the traditional holiday destination for the British Royal family, with Balmoral Castle and the church at Crathie being popular with visitors who wish to “Royal watch”. However, there is so much to explore in this area if you are a tourist, with Braemar and Ballater, being the focal points. A trip to Royal Lochnagar Distillery and the many castles such as Braemar Castle and Corgarff Castle. For those wishing to fish, there is the river Dee within sight. For golfers there are some charming local golf courses including Braemar and Aboyne. But this area is most well known for the magnificent mountains and those wishing to go walking and climbing, then the Cairngorm mountain range starts here.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Aberdeen, which is 62 miles away and hiring a car or 4WD could not be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies within walking distance of the arrivals terminal at Aberdeen or Edinburgh. If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland, the M74, although busy is generally free flowing. This in turn leads onto the M9/A9, then the A936, which leads to Braemar. An average journey from north of the Glasgow bypass to this property is likely to take approximately three hours, whilst an average journey from the Edinburgh bypass will take two hours and thirty minutes. Trains these days can also be an extremely accessible and pleasurable means of transport into Scotland for individuals and groups alike. However, access to this property is not convenient by train as the nearest train station is Perth, which is 54 miles away. Trains from London terminals to Perth take approximately six hours.
