082 Large castle by the sea, Argyllshire
Sleeps 32 Accepts pets Does not allow smoking
This is a castle with a difference! The difference being that it can accommodate so many people. For a “never to be forgotten” experience – this is the castle for you.

Situated on the southern shore of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula in the western Highlands, on a 25,000 acre estate, this stunning red sandstone castle, which was built in 1901, sleeps up to 32 guests, and enjoys magnificent loch views. The castle is decorated in keeping with the style and context of a large Scottish castle, retaining many original features such as, wood panelling, high ceilings and open fires. This exclusive holiday property offers accommodation on a grand scale, suitable for large family gatherings, sporting parties, corporate groups or friends celebrating special anniversaries.

On entering the castle, there is a manned office, impressive stairs, a large panelled drawing room, a further sitting room, a snooker room, a dining room, conservatory, galley kitchen and large commercial kitchen which provides ample space to prepare large feasts. The accommodation has 16 bedrooms en-suite; 14 of which are on the ground, second, third and fourth floors and the remaining 2 bedrooms are in a separate turret house. The grounds consist of lawn and formal garden areas; a tennis court and a hobbit house. There is also a private jetty.

Whilst this castle books on a self-catering basis, due to the numbers involved, it is recommended that guests employ the services of a professional cook, one who is used to working in a commercial kitchen. Please contact the office for further details. Check-in and check-out are 10am respectively. With it’s private location and stunning setting it is well worth the travel. It is ideal for large groups of people for family occasions, weddings and corporate events over a weekend or for a week.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA

Access onto the Ardnamurchan Peninsula is either by the 5 minute ferry crossing on the Corran Ferry or via the more scenic route past Glenfinnan. Once there, it is a lochs and glens paradise, and feels as if it is a west coast island compared to being part of the mainland. It is ideal for those just wishing to get away to an amazing location or for those wishing to particpate in fishing or shooting, or wanting to walk and explore the abundant hills. For those looking to explore further, then day trips to the Islands of Mull and Coll are reccomended.
