Set in the heart of “Monarch of the glen” country this wonderful holiday house is an ideal base for touring the Highlands, as well as discovering “Glenbogle” itself.

This traditional country house was built in 1892 and enjoys wonderful views across the Spey valley and onto the mountains beyond.  In recent years, it has been fully renovated and retains the 19th century charm with modern comforts.

It is set within its own fenced-off and secure garden, just off the quiet road in front with little traffic, with a south easterly aspect. On entering at ground level, is the hub of the house, a country style kitchen with dining for up to 12 adults. To the front of the house, there are two main reception rooms with great bay window views. Both rooms are sitting rooms, one with TV and the other a more formal room, perfect for adults to enjoy a drink once the children have retired. Additionally there is a single bedroom and a shower room. Upstairs there are two double rooms, one twin room, a bedroom with two double bunk beds, a bathroom and a shower room. Features of the house include the renovated farmhouse kitchen with traditional Aga and the original Victorian roll top bath in the bathroom. There is garden furniture available in summer months, with secure lawned area for children to play in. This is a family friendly house and is superbly placed for outdoor activities with walking, fishing, golfing, biking, skiing and canoeing, all in the vicinity.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA
This is “Monarch of the Glen” country, famous for its fine scenery and shinty. For those wishing to watch shinty, then games can be seen at the Eilan in Newtonmore. The Laggan Wolftrax centre is perfect for mountain biking. For golfers there is the excellent golf course in Newtonmore, and at Kingussie or Boat of Garten. The funicular railway is a superb way to enjoy the Cairngorms and in winter, there is fine skiing available. For activities, there are many outdoor centres or activity companies, from clay-pigeon shooting to rafting. The river Spey is nearby and permits are available locally for salmon and trout fishing. Dalwhinnie Distillery, is a must for all whisky enthusiasts. Aviemore has further excellent outdoor activity centres for water and hill based sports for all the family. For shopping, there is the internationally renowned House of Bruar.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Inverness 57 miles away and hiring a car or 4WD couldn’t be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies within walking distance of the arrivals terminal at Inverness. If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland, the M74, although busy is generally free flowing. Trains these days can also be an extremely accessible and pleasurable means of transport into Scotland for individuals and groups alike. All the major railway stations have car hire companies located in situ, enabling the transition from carriage to car to be as stress free as possible. The sleeper train can be caught from London to Inverness, but takes approximately twelve hours and car hire can be easily arranged for your arrival, requiring approximately an hours’ drive for the remainder of your journey. The closest train station to the property is Newtonmore only six miles away.
