"The Mull of Kintyre, the mist rolling in from the sea" – so sang this former west coast resident, Paul McCartney. Come and see for yourself what he loved about this area.

This impressive Baronial country house, formerly a well respected country house hotel, is situated in five acres of grounds, with a south westerly aspect. Located on the west side of the Kintyre peninsula in Argyll, with breathtaking scenery, the area is famed for its mountain backdrop and coastal landscapes.

Beautifully decorated, retaining many original features, such as wood panelling and open fires, the large front facing drawing room is a lovely example of this. The main dining room is also front facing and has the refurbished country kitchen opposite it. As a former hotel, there is a commercial kitchen, which can be made available as extra, as well as a larger dining room, for groups considering functions and events. The house includes a bar area, a large TV room and a children’s playroom. Whilst there is one bedroom on the ground floor, there are six bedrooms on the first floor, with five further bedrooms on the second floor – all with en-suite bathrooms. Outside, to the front is a feature fountain and lawn, whilst to the side is a large patio area where al fresco dining can take place.

This delightful country house is ideal for a family holiday, an event, a wedding, or for those just wishing to base themselves within this wonderful part of the west coast of Scotland. For wedding or events to be held here – then the initial booking would be made on a standard self-catering basis and all other costs would be advised at the visit stage.

Use of car hire is essential, to discover the true beauty of the surrounding areas.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Glasgow airport which is 110 miles away and hiring a car or 4WD could not be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air. There are a variety of well known car rental companies within walking distance of the arrivals terminal at Glasgow. There is a closer airport 26 miles away, Campbelltown airport, but it runs a more limited service via Logan Air, from Glasgow to the islands, but may be worth checking.

If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland, the A74/M74, although busy is generally free flowing. An average journey from Glasgow to this property is three hours, on the A83. Another option is to take the ferry to the Isle of Arran to Brodick and then the ferry off Arran at Lochranza, though this may be equally long and subject to summer timetables, and must be checked in advance.

The train service is not an option for this property as there are no services to this part of Argyll. But talking a train to Glasgow and hiring a car from there would be advised, if this is the preferred option.
